Here’s a look at recent changes in the business landscape in the Sioux Falls area.

Slick City Action Park, a Colorado-based family entertainment center featuring “waterless slides,” is coming to Sioux Falls. The park also will include air courts, a “Junior Jungle” climbing and play structure and space for events. The franchise group is looking for a location with at least 26,000 square feet.

Locally owned Flyboy Donuts has opened its newest location at Empire Place, a retail center along 41st Street near The Empire Mall. The shop has seating inside and on a patio. In addition to its signature doughnuts, there are breakfast sandwiches, espresso and brewed coffee drinks, as well as Orange Julius. It’s open daily at 7 a.m.

OsteoStrong has opened a second Sioux Falls location with a new franchisee. The new east-side wellness center is at 3620 S. Southeastern Ave. OsteoStrong focuses on helping people of all ages with their skeletal health.

A new food truck from the owner of Breaking Burrito features churro bites, homemade ice cream and traditional Mexican drinks. Mr. Churro does pop-ups and is available for public and private events.

A new event venue opening soon in a renovated central Sioux Falls building is designed to host everything from baby and bridal showers to retirement parties and corporate meetings. Vieta will be a small-scale space at 3420 S. Minnesota Ave. and will hold up to 64 people seated.

Pomegranate Market will open a second Sioux Falls location in the new Clark mixed-use building at the downtown Cherapa Place development. The grocery store sells organic and natural foods and will offer a larger deli and prepared foods section than the original location at 57th and Louise. The plan is to open by mid-2025.

Three years after CJ Foods announced plans to build an Asian food production facility in Foundation Park in northwest Sioux Falls, subsidiary Schwan’s Co. has purchased 142 acres there for the project. The company’s plan is to begin construction this year on a 700,000-square-foot facility, in addition to opening a regional office downtown.

Yours on the Spot, which provides a variety of printing and embroidery services, has opened a new location in Tea. The longtime business is in the Bakker Landing development at 2003 Industrial Ave. and is open weekdays.

A St. Paul-based bank with a fintech team in Sioux Falls has added a retail branch here. Sunrise Banks has opened a location at 5105 S. Crossing Place, where it already had the home base for its national products and fintech team. The new branch for the community development bank offers personal banking products and services such as checking and savings accounts, CDs and mortgages. Business banking services include commercial real estate, SBA and specialty lending options.

Drive-thru coffee chain 7 Brew Coffee is coming to The Empire Mall campus. The franchised location will be at 3707 S. Louise Ave. next to Burger King. The plan is to open in the early fall.

Iowa-based Christensen Development plans to buy about 4 acres of former rail yard land from the city of Sioux Falls east of 8th & Railroad Center. The land sits south of Eighth Street, and the development plan includes four multistory mixed-use buildings plus a parking ramp. The developer hopes to begin site work yet this year and open the first building and the parking ramp likely in early 2026.

SoDak Soda has opened its second location in Sioux Falls. The locally owned gourmet soda shop is at 3221 S. Sertoma Ave. in a shared space with Flyboy Donuts. It’s open Monday through Saturday.

The Green Penny, a curated vintage store, has moved to 423 S. Phillips Ave. in a space above Sushi Masa. Owner Aftyn Janzen started the business in 2020 and previously had a shared space in the Jones421 Building. With the new storefront, she is expanding her merchandise beyond clothing.

Neighboring businesses Roundhouse Brew Pub and InterAct are expanding into the space vacated earlier this year by The Sauna Haus, which closed abruptly. The businesses are in a retail center along 69th east of Cliff. InterAct provides services for individuals with autism.

Locally owned Your Nurtured Baby, which offers float tubs and infant massage, is closing its storefront. Services will be offered at the shop at 2309 W. Trevi Place through June 29. The owners said they plan to continue offering infant massage and parent education.

Terror 29’s Mystery Shop of Horrors and Curiosities has opened for shopping and thrills beyond the Halloween season. The haunted house in Brandon had been operating the shop at 1420 E. Cedar St. in the fall. Now, the merchandise store is open every Saturday, and it will extend hours and days of operation closer to Halloween.

ISG, an architecture, engineering, environmental and planning firm, has opened an office in Dakota Dunes, just months after establishing a presence in Pierre. This expansion enhances ISG’s ability to serve communities across South Dakota and into Iowa and Nebraska. ISG has had an office in Sioux Falls since 2018 and also has locations in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Arkansas.

Anthony Pizer, a wealth manager with 13 years of financial services experience in Sioux Falls, has launched an independent brokerage. WillowRidge Financial Solutions is at 7405 S. Bitterroot Place, Suite 104. WillowRidge specializes in comprehensive financial services, including retirement planning, estate and tax strategies, trusts, charitable giving, legacy planning, insurance, risk management and financial education.
