A seasonal haunted house has opened a new storefront in Brandon for Halloween enthusiasts and curious minds alike to enjoy all year long.

When Terror 29 moved to Brandon in 2022, the land included two buildings to allow for growth.

That growth has arrived with a new retail store, Terror 29’s Mystery Shop of Horrors and Curiosities, for shopping and thrills beyond the Halloween season.

“It’s a unique selection of anything and everything centered around horror and Halloween,” owner Zac Tenneboe said.

“We have a wide selection of items including House of 1,000 Corpses action figures, Candyman action figures, puzzles, board games with Michael Meyers, Leatherface, masks and more.”

The store will eventually expand by adding products for special effects, movies, artificial blood, fog machine supplies, home haunters, as well as souvenirs including t-shirts, mugs and keychains.

It welcomes all fans of terror with its spooky vibe, low lighting and its unique ambiance.

Tenneboe said the idea to add the store was born through a lifelong passion.

“As a kid twenty years ago, there was no place that sold the things I loved and that I was obsessed with,” he said. “I realized I’m just living my childhood dreams now.”

Tennenboe and team celebrated with a ribbon cutting in May.

“It’s been awesome so far and we’ve only been open for a few weekends so we’ll see what the demand looks like and expand from there.”

Terror 29 is working on other plans to allow for more year-round experiences.

“It doesn’t come without the blood, sweat and tears,” he said. “I’ve got a great team, a bunch of misfits who come together where our passions collide, we scare people and it’s awesome.”

The Mystery Shop of Horrors and Curiosities is open Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. but will extend hours and days of operation closer to Halloween. The store hopes to plan mini events, meet-and-greets with haunted house characters and other special happenings in conjunction with Brandon’s Second Saturdays event.

The haunted house will open for its sixth season this October.
