Drive-thru coffee chain 7 Brew Coffee is coming to Sioux Falls.

It plans to begin construction on a lot within The Empire Mall campus facing Louise Avenue at 3707 S. Louise Ave.

It’s being franchised by the Oberg family. Operating partner Chase Oberg grew up in the franchise world, as his father Ron, now his managing partner, has more than 20 decades of experience franchising. Operating partner Alex Carney also has extensive experience with quick-service restaurants and both were interested in expanding their portfolio, Chase Oberg said.

He graduated from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in 2021.

“In the spring of that year, my father began exploring 7 Brew, and one evening, he called to ask if I was interested in entering the coffee business,” he said. “I began working as a ‘brewista’ with 7 Brew corporate in the fall of 2021 and worked with them for 12 months.”

They opened their first location in Nebraska in 2022 and another last year, with a third opening in June.

“We believe 7 Brew will seamlessly integrate with the exciting developments underway in Sioux Falls,” Oberg said. “We are thrilled to open our first location in the Empire Mall, a great trade area with lots of activity and potential.”

7 Brew is a rapidly growing coffee brand with more than 200 locations in 26 states. The menu includes classic hot and ice coffee drinks, as well as cold brew, energy drinks, teas and lemonades and smoothies and shakes.

“We are really excited about the buzz around Empire Mall. There is great traffic in front of our site and significant development around us,” Oberg said, adding his group envisions the city “as a multi-store market with the potential for several more 7 Brew locations. Additionally, we see great opportunities for expansion into other South Dakota markets, including Mitchell, Brookings, Watertown and Aberdeen.”

The plan is to open in the early fall of 2024.
