SoDak Soda has arrived on the west side.

The gourmet soda shop opened this week at 3221 S. Sertoma Ave., in a retail center where SoDak Soda shares space with Flyboy Donuts.

It’s a second location for the business, which opened two years ago in a retail center near 85^th Street and Western Avenue.

“We’re happy with it,” co-owner Katy Rees said. “It’s a different look than our main location, mainly because we’re sharing space with Flyboy, so we tried to be respectful of his design.”

The size of the location is similar to the original store and the menu will be the same, with a focus on Coke and Pepsi soft drinks that are customized with flavored syrups, fruit purees and creams.

“Sioux Falls has responded great” to the concept, Rees said. “That’s the reason we were able to entertain the thought of adding a second location. We’ve had great feedback about this new place, so we’re excited to see what that brings for us.”

In the next few weeks, expect “some salty snacks” to be added to the menu, in response to customer requests, she said. There already are cookies and other sweet treats sold.

Hiring for the new store brought “an overwhelming response,” Rees added. “We’ve been able to hire and train several new team members and we are currently fulled staffed for the new location.”

A grand opening is planned for July, at the same time the original location celebrates two years in business.

Hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
