Nutritional drink shop to open downtown

July 21, 2021

A new downtown health-focused beverage bar is under construction and almost ready to open.

Mixx Nutrition Club, which has a suite on the first floor of the Shriver Square building across from The Cookie Jar Eatery, is owned by Heather Javurek and Janna Boelke. It will sell meal replacement shakes, energy teas and other healthy items.

According to Javurek, they’ll primarily be looking to serve the morning and afternoon crowd.

Mixx Nutrition Club hopes to provide a space for those working downtown to have a healthy option during their day. It will be one of the only restaurants of its kind downtown.

“We thought with Shriver Square being right at 11th and Phillips, that’s a nice walking distance for a lot of people,” Javurek said. “Just seeing how well these businesses do around Sioux Falls, we decided why not try and bring it (this business model) to the downtown community since there’s the service industry, people are at their desks all day, and there’s no just healthy, quick, fast option.”

The original opening date was planned for July 12, but because of construction issues, Javurek said its new grand opening will be Aug. 2. The first 20 customers will receive a “free boost” with the purchase of a shake, tea or aloe shot.

Mixx Nutrition Club’s hours will be 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays.
