Austad’s Golf is headed to the Des Moines area.

The Sioux Falls-based, family-owned golf retailer plans to open a store on March 1, 2023, in West Des Moines.

It will be Austad’s 11th location and its third in Iowa.

“Des Moines, like Sioux Falls, is a tremendous market,” president Ryan Austad said “It fits our model well — we find great markets, hire/develop and engage great fitters and then unleash those great fitters to help golfers play better golf with a fun and unique retail experience.”

The 7,000-square-foot store will include two premium Foresight fitting studios.

A Puttview putting green will help golfers with their putting and putter fittings, and there will be a full-service build/repair shop.

Golfers will be able to use a touch-screen monitor to personalize their golf balls with text, pictures and emojis. Those are printed in-house in Sioux Falls. The touch screen even will allow customers to build their own custom simulators, which Austad’s will install for them in a home, garage, office or other location.

“We’ve found the demand for in-home simulators has grown exponentially since the pandemic began,” Austad said. “We continue to push ourselves to dream what the next generation of golf retailing should look like. What experiences will resonate with golfers, what technology and services can help improve a golfer’s game? Ultimately, how can we help more people enjoy the game? We are excited to bring that mission to Des Moines.”
