Restaurant Roundup: Winery’s pizza pairings, Indian taco buffet, Taco Bell chicken nuggets

Starting Friday, Calico Skies Vineyard & Winery is bringing back its popular sparkling wine and pizza pairings for the rest of the month. Get two flights and three 8-inch pizzas for $42 per couple. The pairings are Marquette Rose with smoked salmon pizza, Shoreline with a margherita pizza and Climb On with lemon berry pizza. The pairings are available Friday through Sunday.

Watecha Bowl has added a lunch buffet that’s filled with all the fixings to build your own Indian tacos, including a vegan option, and there’s also soup and wojapi. Hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. The regular menu is available too.

Taco Bell has wandered out of its lane but maybe shouldn’t get a ticket. New chicken nuggets are available in five- or 10-piece sizes for a limited time. All-white-meat chicken is marinated in jalapeno buttermilk and breaded with tortilla chips. They come with your choice of sauce: Hidden Valley Fire Ranch, Bell or jalapeno honey mustard.

Winter menu items have arrived at Daily Clean Food & Drink. Seasonal offerings are Oatmeal Cranberry Cookies, Cocoa Peppermint Balls, the Frosted Gingerbread smoothie and the Winter Wonder Bowl with wild rice, sweet potato, goat cheese, pomegranate seeds, craisins, kale, almonds and bison meatballs.

Both locations of The Attic Bar & Grill have a new burger. The Big Boom features a beef patty, fried portabellas, crispy pancetta, Swiss cheese and a French onion aioli.

Applebee’s has a new $10 special. Get the new Big Cluckin’ Chicken Sandwich or the Big Classic Bacon Cheeseburger, fries and a drink. It’s available for dine-in or to go.

Covert Artisan Ales has added online sales for its craft beer. Orders can be picked up from 1 to 5 p.m. Saturdays at the brewery, 605 S. Watson Ave.

Chef April Cakes, Confections & Celebrations is having its annual holiday pop-up shop from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at 3210 E. 10th St. Offerings will include holiday treats, boxes of treats, lefse, hot cocoa bombs, snack mixes, soups, appetizers and holiday dinners.

Granite City Food & Brewery is hosting its annual Breakfast With Santa on Saturday. Santa will be there from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Reservations for the buffet can be made at 605-362-0000 or gcfb.com/reservations. Prices are $16 for adults and $8 for kids.

Harvester Kitchen by Bryan is offering several special holiday meals. This year’s Feast of the Seven Fishes dinners, which are inspired by the Italian-American Christmas Eve custom, are Friday through Sunday. Christmas Eve’s offering is Seven Fishes at Nana’s, a family-style version of the dinner. The New Year’s Eve dinner, Tops Hats & Tiaras, starts off with sparkling wine and hors d’oeuvres, leading into a six-course meal that’s followed by dancing and ringing in the new year with a toast and table of sweets. Looking for special holiday breads? Breadico has two: Christstollen and Panettone. Other specialty offerings include cherry walnut, jalapeno cheddar and three types of babka. They’re available at the bakery until Christmas Eve and again on Dec. 28, when it reopens.

Perch is offering take-and-bake cinnamon rolls for Christmas. Order until Sunday for pickup Monday or Tuesday.

Orders close at noon Friday for the Christmas take-and-bake menu at Josiah’s Coffeehouse, Cafe & Bakery. Pies also are available.

Festive cupcakes are a tradition at Oh My Cupcakes. The Merry & Bright dozen is available to order online until Dec. 23. A gluten-friendly version is available too. If you schedule pickup for Christmas Eve, you’ll get to meet Santa at The Bridges location from 11 a.m. to noon. And note: The bakery locations will be closed for the first time for a full week: Dec. 25 through Jan. 2.

The new Ironwood Steakhouse at The Steel District has a seasonal cocktail menu: Hard-Wood Old-Fashioned, Rosemary & Orange Drop and The Gin-Ginger.
