Restaurant Roundup: Popcorn ball training, new lunch offering

July 18, 2024

Poppy’s Popcorn Co. recently hired four employees who need to learn how to make popcorn balls, so the shop is offering a sale on them. They’re half-price through Saturday, or $1.49. Additional specials on caramel popcorn balls and the square versions will be coming in the next few weeks.

Also, check out a new flavor at Poppy’s: Cheddar Ranch.

Titans Tavern in Tea has added lunch service. The restaurant in the former Tea Steak House now opens at 11 a.m. daily. The owners still plan to add breakfast on weekends and add dinner entrees to the menu. Here’s a look at the current offerings.

The latest featured menu at 22Ten Kitchen Cocktails is Asian-inspired. That’s the Ahi Tuna & Salmon Stack show in the photo at the top of this article.

Invictus Pizza Kitchen has three specialty pizzas for July: bratwurst, smoked pulled pork and mac-and-cheese.

Is your downtown dog missing the puppy treats from Intoxibakes? The bakery moved from the Jones421 Building to The Empire Mall, but it has found a new retailer in Jones421 – The Tail That Got Away – to sell mini and full-size pupcakes, 4-inch puppy birthday cakes and pupcups.

Samurai Tasteas Sushi Steakhouse has new lunch specials.

The traveling vegan junk food truck, Vuture Food, will be back in Sioux Falls for the first time this season at Covert Artisan Ales & Cellars. Hours are 1 to 5 p.m. Saturday.

National Ice Cream Day is Sunday, and local shops are offering specials. Here are a few we noticed:

  • Parlour in the Washington Pavilion is celebrating National Ice Cream Day on Saturday and Sunday. Get a BOGO deal on scoops.
  • Stensland Family Farms has $2 dips on Sunday.
  • Dairy Queen is celebrating the day on Sunday with free Dilly Bars for every order of $1 or more through the DQ app for rewards members.
  • All rolled ice creams are half-price Sunday at the 41st Street Polar Bites.

Polar Bites is celebrating Christmas in July for the rest of the month with rolled ice cream in festive flavors you might be missing.

Shenanigans Sports Bar & Grill has new happy hour specials. Get half-off all drinks and appetizers from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Panera Bread has several new limited-time breakfast items, including CinnaTops. They start with a cinnamon roll base topped with icing and your choice of a bakery item: Candy Cookie, Choco Chipper Cookie or Fudgy Brownie. New CinnaScrambles combine classic breakfast sandwich ingredients with a cinnamon roll. Options include regular, sausage or bacon. New breakfast sandwiches are Bacon Double Take, Steak & Wake and Ham Egg & Cheese.

Here’s something we’d typically feature on our sister site, Pigeon605, in “4 new things to eat this week.” We just saw it today, so we’re sharing it here. Look’s Marketplace secured one of 11 country hams from Lady Edison in North Carolina that had been aged for 14 months at Westwater Country Hams, also in North Carolina. Look’s has created a limited-time dish, Summer Plum and Country Ham Plate, with the ham, plums, ricotta and gremolata.

Changes in hours, service

  • Cherry Rock Farms will be open again from noon to 2 p.m. Friday to sell its veggies and products from other vendors, including sourdough bread, jam, greens, honey, pastured pork and pastured chicken.
