Restaurant Roundup: New dim sum Sundays, orchard opens, bloody mary/margarita festival

Pho Quynh Vietnamese Restaurant is now serving dim sum from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Sundays – or until sold out. Items will occasionally rotate but will include favorites like pot stickers, bao, shumai and other small plates. According to the restaurant, dim sum is a Cantonese brunch of small plates that are served hot and are meant to be passed around the table.

The Country Apple Orchard in Harrisburg has opened for the season. Hours for the orchard’s country store and apple picking are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday. Raspberry picking hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday each week for as long as ripe berries are available. In addition to products from the orchard, including pumpkins already, the country store is filled with items from vendors. The orchard’s Fall Festival activities, which require admission, start this week and run Friday, Saturday and Sunday through October. There’s also a new food court filled with food trucks that is open during festival hours but does not require paid admission to visit. The Bloody Mary & Margarita Fest Tour is coming to The Social on Sept. 6. Enjoy unlimited samples of the area’s best bloody marys and margaritas, crafted by local favorites and top national brands. Drinks will be served during two sessions: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. or 1:30 to 4:30 p.m. Early bird pricing is $42; tickets, which are limited, can be purchased here. Designated driver tickets are $25 and include versions of the drinks without alcohol.

The Barrel House and Krav’n are hosting community blood drives on Sept. 5. Everyone who donates will receive a $20 gift card that can be used at the restaurants. Time slots are filling up; find links to sign up here.
Crooked Pint Ale House has added several items to the menu. For a new shareable, there’s French onion dip with housemade chips. Spicy flavors appear in new wing flavors — Cholula Zing and Southwest Chipotle — and in sandwich additions with the Buffalo chicken wrap and blackened turkey melt. A classic smashburger has found its way to the menu, along with lobster tacos, apple pecan chicken salad, chicken power bowl and chicken tender platter. New desserts include Donut Hole Dippers and a five-layer chocolate cake.

Smoothie King has new loaded toasts in three options: avocado, peanut butter and chocolate hazelnut, all of which can be customized with additional toppings for an extra charge.

The Never-Ending Pasta Bowl is back at Olive Garden for a limited time. Choose from four noodles, six sauces and three toppings. Prices start at $14.

Red Lobster has new daily specials: Monday, lobster and shrimp scampi for $20; Tuesday, snow crab legs for $25; Wednesday, steak and lobster for $25; Thursday shrimp or chicken alfredo for $15; and Friday, fish and chips for $15.

Trio Jazz Club is having another after-party Saturday. Stop by from 11:30 p.m. to 2 a.m. for elevated drinks from Doctor Cocktail, arancini and fries for snacking and house music from DJ Mr. Wobbles. There’s a $10 cover charge.

Fall seasonal treats have arrived at DQ. New this year are Caramel Toffee Cookie Blizzard and Maple Cookie Shake. The Pumpkin Pie Blizzard is back.

Changes in hours, service
- After being closed for a couple of weeks for the start of its remodeling project, TJz Colton Bar & Restaurant has reopened and will be able to stay open during the rest of the updating.
- The new Samurai Hibachi & Sushi Express in Harrisburg now offers online ordering for pickup or delivery through Local by Toast and DoorDash.
- Safari Bar & Grill in Renner has added a late-night happy hour. From 9 p.m. to close daily, get $1 off all alcoholic drinks. Regular happy hours are 3 to 6 p.m. weekdays and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the weekend.
