Mom’s favorite restaurant likely is open Sunday for Mother’s Day, and here are a couple of freebies we found, along with a few featured menus.
- Moms eat free at Sickies Garage Burgers & Brews on Sunday.
- Squealer’s Smoke Shack is offering moms a free drink Saturday and Sunday.
The special menu at 22Ten Kitchen Cocktails is available now through Monday.

Roam Kitchen + Bar’s featured dishes are being served through Sunday.

Josiah’s Coffeehouse, Cafe & Bakery is offering take-and-bake breakfast pizzas and egg bakes. Each comes with eight cinnamon or caramel rolls, and the pizza also comes with a quart of fruit. Orders must be placed by noon Friday.

The Cattitude Cafe met its crowdfunding goal of $25,000. The coffee shop that features a separate room to hang out with cats said it needed to raise the money by the end of April to remain in business because it was “facing unexpected expenses that threaten our future.” Since opening in July 2023, the business has found homes for more than 400 cats for the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society.

Sunny’s Pizzeria has two new pizzas for a limited time. The Kooky Carbonara has garlic Parmesan, mozzarella, pepper jack, ham, bacon, broccoli, green pepper, bread crumbs and a ranch drizzle. Ode to Fong has Korean barbecue sauce, mozzarella, chicken, green onion, chow mein noodles and a sriracha drizzle. By popular demand, Nacho Average Taco Pizza has returned. It has alfredo, mozzarella, cheddar, beef, onion, green pepper, tomato, black olive and Doritos, with drizzles of sour cream and taco sauce.

Chef Lance’s on Phillips has several new menu items, including a lobster tail and tenderloin filet combo, New York strip, French rack of lamb, scallop piccata, Buffalo shrimp, burrata caprese salad and shrimp bisque.

The brunch item for R Wine Bar on Saturdays in May is okonomiyaki, a gluten-free, savory Japanese pancake loaded with bacon, cabbage and green onion and topped with an over-easy egg, kewpie mayo and okonomiyaki sauce. It’s available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The May dinner feature at R Wine Bar is Pineapple BBQ Chicken. Marinated grilled chicken is served over Spanish rice with bell pepper, onion and broccoli, all topped with a mildly spicy pineapple sauce and a charred pineapple garnish.

At sister restaurant Maribella, the monthly feature is Filetto di Manzo. An 8-ounce beef filet is paired with port wine reduction, served over cauliflower garlic mashed potatoes, with asparagus tips and finished with truffle.

The featured pizza for May at Invictus Pizza Kitchen is The Drac Snack with garlic aioli, mozzarella, feta, gouda, grilled chicken, red onion, roasted garlic, artichoke and marinated tomato, finished with garlic rosemary oil.

The Dive’s burger of the month is The Bayou. The patty is topped with bell pepper, andouille sausage, chimichurri sauce, Swiss cheese, celery and Cajun aioli.

New $9 monthly lunch specials at Railbirds Sports Bar are tater tot hot dish, spaghetti with meatballs, chipped creamed beef and beef tacos. They’re served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays.

Pho Quynh has changed its dinner specials from something new every week to the same items throughout the month. Here’s what’s available for May after 5 p.m. Monday through Saturday and all day Sunday.

The burger of the month at Alibi Bar & Grill is The Luke Burger. The one-third-pound patty is topped with Swiss cheese, and an onion ring that’s filled with shaved prime rib and drizzled with a sweet and spicy chili garlic sauce. It comes with a choice of side for $14.

Next door, The Scapegoat’s pizza of the month is The Meat Feast with marinara, pepperoni, sausage, spicy salami, ham, bacon, shredded smoked gouda and mozzarella.

The monthly features at Monks Ale House are the Maui Wowie Pizza with pineapple, ham and jalapeno and the Pub Club Sandwich with ham, turkey, provolone, bacon, tomato and shredded lettuce with house aioli on a hoagie bun.

The May lucy of the month at Crooked Pint Ale House is honey sriracha. It’s stuffed with pepper jack cheese and topped with Monterey Jack, fried jalapenos, haystack onions, mayo and honey sriracha sauce. It’s served with a choice of side for $12.

The Goodcents sub of the month is The Centsable with bologna, ham, American cheese, lettuce and red onion – but you can always add more veggies.

Here are the weekly ice cream flavors for May at Stensland Family Farms.

New cupcake creations for May at Oh My Cupcakes are Peach Cobbler and Tres Leches. The returning favorite is Better Than Summer, with flavors of chocolate, caramel, whipped cream and toffee.

The Breaks Coffee Roasting Co. is celebrating the appearance of rhubarb and lilacs with its featured drinks this month. Rhubarbie Girl is a cold brew latte made with a simple syrup of rhubarb, strawberry and vanilla bean. Sour Flower Power has flavors of lemon and lavender in a sparkling base over ice with a float of half-and-half and a lilac garnish.

Signature cocktails for May have been created at JJ’s Bars at JJ’s Wine, Spirits & Cigars. Offerings include The 57th Street (Long) Island, Mr. Bendo Goes Camping with toasted marshmallows, The Little Engine That Could with Engine Organic Gin, Late Night Cereal Bowl with your choice of Reese’s Puffs or Cocoa Puffs, The Timeless Thyme and Kiwila Kocktail with kiwi puree.

Changes in hours, service
- The oven at Calico Skies Vineyard & Winery east of Canton is on now anytime the tasting room is open. The menu includes wood-fired pizzas, wings and pretzel bites.
- Big Poppa’s Pizza has new hours for summer: 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday. But take note: It won’t open until 4 p.m. this Sunday because of Mother’s Day.
- Extended hours have arrived for summer at Falls Overlook Cafe. It’s open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
- Windy City Bites has new hours: 3 to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday, 3 p.m. to 2 a.m. Friday and noon to 2 a.m. Saturday. The kitchen closes an hour earlier on Friday and Saturday.
- Stensland Family Farms has new hours for summer: noon to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, noon to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday.
