Here’s a look at recent changes in the business landscape in the Sioux Falls area.

Kids 2 College Furniture is joining Montgomery’s in the former Conlin’s Furniture space. The locally owned retailer, which specializes in furnishings for infants through college students, will move from the Western Mall into about 9,000 square feet of the building at 1703 W. 41st St. that it will lease. Montgomery’s is connecting the Conlin’s space with its existing building. Both retailers plan to open in the Conlin’s space at the same time — likely either late August or early September depending on construction.

The board that operates the Sioux Falls Regional Airport has approved a plan to build another concourse. The net gain under the base plan will be four gates. If additional funding is available, the airport will add another gate, bringing the airport’s total to 12. Work will start this summer, and the project is expected to take 18 to 24 months.

A longtime Brandon bar and grill has reopened under new ownership with a new menu. Casie Scott and “behind-the-scenes” business partner Rick Lindeman bought 212 The Boiling Point from Kyle Thill, who had closed the bar in late March after trying to sell it for the past year and a half. It’s open daily from 3 to 11 p.m.

Sweet Scoops Ice Cream and Bakery has opened in Dell Rapids. It sells doughnuts and rolls from Mr. Donuts in Sioux Falls, baked goods from Brandy’s Custom Cakery in Parker, savory breakfast items, 12 rotating flavors of SDSU Ice Cream and Caribou Coffee drinks. It’s open daily from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Starting Monday, opening time will be 7:30 a.m.

ClubHouse Hotel & Suites has opened its addition, which offers 42 guest rooms. The hotel at 2320 S. Louise Ave. is owned and operated by The Ramkota Companies. The rooms are a mix of king and double queens, along with some new two-bedroom suites. The expansion also includes a hospitality suite and larger fitness center.

Queen City Balloon Bar is moving this month from 3220 E. 10th St. to a space next to Oh My Cupcakes at The Bridges at 57th. The locally owned business creates balloon arrangements, garlands and gifts.

Demetrece and Chelsea Plucker have started the food truck Roscoe’s Kitchen. The menu includes a smashburger, hibachi burrito and bowl, tacos, Philly cheesesteak, loaded nachos and Cheeto Balls. The food truck does pop-ups and can be booked for public and private events.

Tilghman’s Academy of Music is expanding into a space next to its location in a Harrisburg retail center. The music school owned by Kaitlyn and Chris Tilghman also will begin offering a subscription service with unlimited access to music classes, events and enrichment programs.
