Here’s a look at recent changes in the business landscape in the Sioux Falls area.
Sioux Falls-based Furniture Mart USA has grown by seven stores in Minnesota with the acquisition of Becker Furniture.
Shenanigans Sports Bar & Grill is expanding to downtown Sioux Falls. The longtime bar and grill is taking over the former Papa Woody’s Wood Fired Pizza space at 701 N. Phillips Ave. Owner Paul Ode hopes to be open in time for St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.
KPOT has opened at 2814 S. Louise Ave. The new restaurant, which is part of a national chain, features all-you-can-eat Korean barbecue and hot pot that diners cook at their table. It’s open daily.
Harvester Kitchen by Bryan has created Nunzio’s Food Hall at the restaurant, 196 E. Sixth St. The food hall doesn’t offer seating but expects to when the weather is nice on the Harvester Kitchen patio. So far, the offerings include Nunzio’s Pizza, which the restaurant operated as a pop-up concept in the first half of last year, and Corky’s Wine Shop. Additional concepts will be added.
The new Antigua Taco House featuring Guatemalan and Mexican food has opened on the east side of downtown. The restaurant is in the original location of Jacky’s Restaurant at 702 E. Eighth St. It’s open Monday through Saturday from breakfast to dinner.
Zooks Coffee Bar in Tea has new owners. Vince and Sharif Welch of Brandon bought it from Linda Kokenge, who opened it in 2021.
A new golf simulator business based around memberships has opened in south Sioux Falls. Swing365 offers two simulators in a retail center at 3014 W. 57th St. Monthly memberships offer the chance to reserve the suites 24/7, starting at 90 minutes a day. Different membership levels determine how far in advance the suites can be booked.
OmegaQuant Analytics will be among the initial tenants of the first building at the USD Discovery District, which is at 4600 W. Nobel St. in northwest Sioux Falls. The biotech company, which makes blood test kits for omega-3 levels and is developing an index to identify people at higher risk of developing diabetes, will be leasing 5,300 square feet for a combination of office, laboratory and manufacturing space. The plan is to move in this May from its location at 5009 W. 12th St. The South Dakota Small Business Development Center has moved its office into the building.
We Rock the Spectrum is opening a sensory play gym on the east side of Sioux Falls for kids with all abilities but designed for those living on the autism spectrum or with any kind of neurodivergence. The gym will be at 3224 E. 10th St. and is expected to open in March. It will include therapy rooms, teen rooms, calming rooms, swings, slides, trampolines, a toddler area, arts and crafts activities and a multipurpose room for families to rent out for parties or gatherings.
Wells Fargo will close its main branch in downtown Sioux Falls on May 7. The bank has seven other branches in the city.
Let It Fly Casino in the former Let It Fly restaurant has reopened. The restaurant closed in November, but the casino recently opened again while the search for a new tenant continues. The business is owned by former NBA player and South Dakota native Mike Miller. Let It Fly Casino has also locations in Brandon and Tea.
Josh Reinfeld has opened Josh Reinfeld Counseling at 300 N. Dakota Ave. Reinfeld has more than 20 years of experience in social services and more than a decade of experience in community mental health. His private practice offers in-person and telehealth counseling in PTSD, substance abuse, depression and anxiety. Reinfeld is EMDRIA-certified and trained in dialectical behavioral therapy through Behavioral Tech.
