Cocktails, cars, music and more: How to celebrate summer with JJ’s

June 2, 2022

This paid piece is sponsored by JJ’s Wine, Spirits & Cigars.

From a new event to returning popular ones, enjoy your favorite JJ’s beverage at one or all of these upcoming nights of fun.

Cocktails & Cars

If you own a classic, customized or collectible vehicle – or appreciate those who do – mark down every Tuesday from June 7 through Aug. 9.

Come down to JJ’s at 3000 W. 57th St. from 6 to 8 p.m. and enjoy a parking lot full of must-see vehicles.

“And if you own a classic, customized or collectible car, truck or motorcycle, bring it over and show it off,” JJ’s owner Tom Slattery said. “We’ll take care of you with a food or drink special, and everybody else can come check out your pride and joy.”

Vehicles will be displayed in the north parking lot, so you can see them from the patio or even driving by on 57th Street.

“I have an interest in classic and customized vehicles myself and thought it would be fun to do something on a Tuesday,” Slattery said. “So we’re going all in with food and beverage specials – our new weekly specials will start on Tuesdays, and we’ll now keep the kitchen up until 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. And we’ll still do one live music weekend a month, but our live music focus for summer will be at Cocktails & Cars on Tuesday nights.”

Plus, come for the cars and stay for the axes. You’ll get 10 throws for $10 at the newly expanded and renovated JJ’s Axes & Ales until 9 p.m.

“We have developed a new bar concept within JJ’s Axes & Ales that will appeal to folks just looking for a cool place to hang out and have a brew versus throwing axes.” Slattery said.

“It’s part of the added experience that has been evolving at JJ’s Axes & Ales along with pool tables, dart boards and video lottery.”

Whisk(e)y Wednesday

Whisk(e)y Wednesday isn’t taking the summer off! You can still be at JJ’s by 5:45 p.m. Wednesdays to be entered into the weekly bottle raffle.

Each Wednesday features a specially chosen feature flight perfect for tasting.

“Plus, you can get more raffle entries by purchasing the feature flight and for purchasing food,” Slattery said. “And when you buy spirits to take home with you, they’re 30 percent off the list price for all JJ’s VIP members.”

So what is all this raffle business?

“There are some brands of bourbon and other American made whiskeys that just never see the shelf anymore,” Slattery said. “So we have developed a pretty cool concept within the Whisk(e)y Wednesday construct that gives folks an opportunity to get their hands on these special bottles without having to stand in line or wait out an allocation list. Plus, it’s a ton of fun!”

Wagon Wheel & The JJ’s Whisk(e)y & Wine Experience

Don’t miss the second annual JJ’s Whisk(e)y & Wine Experience at Wagon Wheel. This year, it’s July 8 and features Jon Pardi with special guests Locash and Ian Munsick.

The JJ’s Whisk(e)y & Wine Experience will precede the concert event on the Midway of the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds from 5 to 8 p.m.

“It’s going to be a great concert, and you’ll enjoy it even more by incorporating this experience before the show,” Slattery said.

“Your JJ’s ticket will include 10 total samples of whiskey and wine, and spots are limited. So we encourage you to purchase tickets soon.”

“We will also be giving away two ticket packages every Wednesday through June right after our weekly bottle raffle,” Slattery added. “Stop into JJ’s to sign up!”

Levitt at the Falls

JJ’s once again will be the adult-beverage provider at Levitt at the Falls, which will bring 50 free concerts downtown for the first time since it opened.

The first concert is scheduled for Friday featuring The Burroughs, a nine-piece band steeped in classic soul standards and outfitted with a powerhouse sound that electrifies audiences.

“Expect another season of great service as we provide you with beer, wine and specially crafted cocktails at the Levitt,” Slattery said. “We’re especially excited to be part of Innoskate, which is partnering with the Levitt July 7-9 to bring an incredible skateboarding festival to town.”

Summer job?

Looking for the most fun you’ll ever have at work this summer? JJ’s has put together a first-class beverage and events team but is always looking to grow.

“We are also looking for part-time retail workers and pay top dollar for a job that is certainly more fun than fast food or stocking grocery shelves,” Slattery said.
