Maggy Pickner has found a permanent location for her gluten-free and vegan sweet treats.

The storefront in The Bridges at 57th also will allow her to expand Sinless Sweets’ bakery offerings into more substantial meals in a bistro.

“We’ll have a display case with treats but also offer either hot meals or ready-to-take salads and sandwiches,” Pickner said. “Everything will be gluten-free and vegan.”

The business also will sell home decor. Pickner will work with North American Wholesale and Sullivans, two wholesale dealers in Sioux Falls.

Pickner expects her storefront to open in early to mid-August. The location at 5009 S. Western Ave. Suite 100 sits across from the Let It Fly restaurant.

Renovation of the vacant space, which once housed a travel agency, will include turning the backroom into a kitchen and changing the floor and ceiling.

“There’s not a whole lot to do,” Pickner said.

She already is working on the recipes for the meals she will serve at the Sinless Sweets bistro.

Pickner occasionally receives assistance from family members, but Sinless Sweets essentially remains a one-person operation. She estimates her business has doubled in the past few months. Graduation season was a busy time with multiple orders for cakes.

“It’s been a little hectic to get all this ready while still taking in orders, but we’re making it work,” Pickner said.

Pickner started her gluten-free and vegan bakery as a teenager. Now 20, she herself had given up gluten and dairy about 18 months ago when she was diagnosed with polycystic ovary syndrome, which causes cysts to form in her reproductive system.

Every cake, cookie and brownie that Pickner bakes is made with nut flours and without eggs and dairy products.

Pickner said she’s excited to open Sinless Streets in a storefront.

“There’s a lot of foot traffic that goes there,” she said. “It’s kind of the perfect little spot.”
