Restaurant Roundup: New brunch offering, pasta battle, pierogies to order
Jan. 9, 2025
R Wine Bar & Kitchen is launching Saturday brunch specials starting this week. Up first: Chapin Breakfast with two eggs your style, refried beans and fried plantains, with sour cream and salsa on the side; and Pan Dulcis, which is ciabatta soaked in a flavored egg batter, baked and then “panini-pressed,” and finished with your choice of caramel or fresh berries. The specials will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will change every month. The Hegg Brothers will be playing from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Rather than go off-brand with an entry in the Downtown Burger Battle, sister restaurants Maribella Ristorante and R Wine Bar & Kitchen are having their second annual pasta battle. Maribella’s executive chef came up with Vodka Tortellini (first photo), and R Wine Bar’s executive chef offering is Creamy Chipotle Coast Pasta. Last year’s battle was lasagna, and R Wine Bar claimed the title.
