Let It Fly to close this week
Nov. 10, 2024
Sports bar Let It Fly is closing.
The restaurant opened at The Bridges at 57th three years ago. The final day in business is scheduled to be Nov. 11, closing at 5 p.m.
The business is owned by former NBA player and South Dakota native Mike Miller. Let It Fly’s original location is in Tennessee, and there’s also one in Omaha.
“This decision was not made lightly, and it comes after careful consideration of how to best utilize our resources to build the Let It Fly franchise at our other locations,” the business said in a statement.
“We want to express our deepest gratitude for your support and loyalty throughout the years. Serving this community has been a privilege, and we are truly grateful for each one of you who has supported us over the past three years.”
The 9,200-square-foot building, which originally was Bracco World Cafe, helps anchor the retail center at 57th Street and Western Avenue. It’s listed for sale or lease with Raquel Blount of Lloyd Cos.
“This location has always been a key intersection that feeds the south part of Sioux Falls and supports all the medical and office,” she said. “It’s on the 57th Street corridor that has a great combination of private business and housing and upscale office.”
The restaurant could be a fit for local or national operators, she said.
It seats 350 inside plus an additional 150 on the patio and has multiple areas for dining, including an event or boardroom space and a separate bar and casino.
“Our market is always looked at from new concepts or new national chains from somebody that has a growing base and wants a second location or they want to try a new concept,” Blount said.
“Our market has always been really good to restaurant groups. They’ve mostly been strongly supported, and everybody always wants to try the latest and greatest and new concept, and we think it’s a great opportunity for someone with something new to market or a second location to build upon our restaurant scene in Sioux Falls.”
The area “transitions from a very strong work demographic to residents and neighborhood traffic,” she added. “People like to be close to home and want to go out close to home.”
