Comings & Goings

Here’s a look at recent changes in the business landscape in the Sioux Falls area.

The opening of Tre Lounge has been delayed because of supply chain issues, owner Michael Hillman said. “I don’t want to give a timeline because everything is so far behind. Supplies and everything are just insane to get,” Hillman said. He and his family, owners of the Roll’n Pin Cafe & Grille + Catering, have been using the kitchen in the building at 601 W. 33rd St. for catering work while remodeling continues.

Anthropologie has opened at The Empire Mall. The store is the retailer’s first in South Dakota and is located in the JCPenney wing in part of the former Gap space. Anthropologie describes itself as a lifestyle brand specializing in women’s apparel, accessories, intimates, beauty products, home furniture and decor.

Crumbl Cookies has leased space for a second bakery in Sioux Falls. The new shop will be in a retail center that will be built at the east-side Dawley Farm Village. The plan is to break ground this winter and have Crumbl open by late summer or early fall of next year.

Brothers Jarren and Devin Saxon have started a food truck in Lennox that features coffee drinks and breakfast items. Maple Drip, which roasts beans imported from Costa Rica, is parked in a lot along Main Street. The food menu includes breakfast sandwiches and burritos, along with baked goods. It’s open daily.

A growing local balloon bouquet and decoration business now has a retail storefront. Queen City Balloon Bar is at 3320 E. 10th St. Ryan and Christine Egan started the business six years ago in their home.

Seasonal retailers have opened at The Empire Mall. There are 10 businesses, some of which are operating out of kiosks and others that are leasing storefronts.

A pet supply store specializing in fresh, all-natural food for dogs and cats has opened in a retail center along 85th Street west of Minnesota Avenue. Pet Wants is open daily at 7740 S. Dakota Hawk Ave.

Murph’s Burgers & Fries has taken over the kitchen at Fernson Downtown. It will serve as the winter home for the business Murphy Lundie started in late summer as a food truck.

Aerie has expanded in The Empire Mall with an adjacent storefront for its Offline athleisure collection. The shop features leggings, sports bras, tops, bike shorts, workout dresses and skirts designed for every body type.
