Small act of kindness leads to almost $100K donation for local animal rescues

Local pet company Roxi & Co. plans to donate more than 33,000 pounds of pet food to four local rescue organizations after a small ask led to a much bigger donation.
Roxi & Co. at 501 E. 41st St. is partnering with NutriSource Pet Foods for the donation, which includes 6,541 bags of dog food valued at $92,000.
The food will go to the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society, Rescue Network, Sioux Empire Pit Rescue and Dakota Dachshund Rescue.
“This is the largest supplier donation we’ve ever been part of,” said Telly Rollinger, owner of Roxi & Co. “We reached out to NutriSource hoping for some food to share with local rescues — and they delivered far beyond what we imagined. We’re incredibly proud to partner with a company that truly cares about pets and people.”
NutriSource, a family-owned pet food brand based in Perham, Minnesota, responded with generosity. Working alongside Roxi & Co., it has helped ensure that local rescue dogs will be well fed in the weeks and months ahead.
Rollinger said the partnership highlights the power of local businesses investing in their communities.
“Every customer who shops local plays a part in this,” he said. “You’re not just buying pet food — you’re helping us do good in the community.”
Distribution to the four rescue partners will begin immediately.
