Restaurant Roundup: Tavern Grill party, new flavors, daily specials

The Tavern Grill is throwing a grand reopening party next week. Ten percent of sales during the events will be donated to Feeding South Dakota. The fun kicks off Wednesday from 4:30 to 8 p.m. with cocktail tastings, appetizer sampling and live music. From 4:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, there will be wine tastings and pizza samplings with live music until 7 and trivia from 7 to 9 p.m. On Friday from 4:30 to 8 p.m. there will be beer tastings, appetizer sampling and live music. Saturday is “full patio energy” from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. with an all-day happy hour, raffles and games. From 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., there will be live music and a B-Squad Dog Rescue event.

MacKenzie River Pizza, Grill & Pub has several new menu items. For appetizers, there’s an Elote Corn Drip served with blue tortilla chips and Boom Boom Shrimp. For salads, there are two: Asian Ahi Salad and Boom Boom Shrimp. The Nonnino Panino features capicola, ham, Genoa salami, provolone, tomato and pepperoncini. Two new flatbreads are available: Banh Mi and Chorizo Hatch Chili. And the Italian Grinder Pizza is back. See all the descriptions here.

Totally Rad Eats at Fernson Downtown has added a chicken sandwich and Havana Dog to the menu. The Comback Chicken Sandwich is a choice of fried or grilled tenders tossed in Dagger and Arrow Hi-Fi sauce, with pepper jack cheese, pickles, Comeback sauce on a Martin’s potato roll. The Havana features a Morty’s dog, Compart ham, pickles, pepper jack cheese, Cuban spread and Caplansky’s Ballpark Mustard on a New England roll.

And new specials start Friday at Totally Rad.

If you’d like to try the winning burger in the 605 Rural Burger Battle, it’s being served through Saturday as a special at the Baltic Corner. The Boss Hogg is a 6-ounce hand-pattied beef burger on a toasted ciabatta ban. It’s topped with smoked pork belly burnt ends, bacon, bacon jam, apple habanero barbecue sauce, pepper jack cheese and crispy onion. The bar defended its title in the second annual competition in February.

Chevys Fresh Mex has new daily specials. Monday: half-price quesabirrias. Tuesday: $2 tacos and half-price house margaritas. Wednesday: Buy a flauta appetizer and get a second one for half-price. Thursday: $10 off margarita towers. Friday: Margarita flights for $23. Saturday: Fajita combo for $22. Sunday: Half-price kids meals and $2 taps.

Camille’s Sidewalk Cafe is featuring the Zesty Zebra as its dish of the month. It’s a panini spin on the Zorba the Greek flatbread and includes grilled chicken, red onion, red pepper, black olive, mozzarella, feta and basil pesto. April’s featured soup is loaded baked potato. Buy a Zesty Zebra and two drinks, and get a free entree through Wednesday. If you order online, use the code ZESTYZEBRA.

Papa Murphy’s Pizza is offering half-price pizzas through Monday. The online-only deal is good on any size pizza and any crust type, including gluten-free, for up to five pizzas. If you build your own, there’s a five-topping maximum. Use code 50PIZZA.

Crooked Pint Ale House is featuring The Oh Mama Burger for April. The seasoned patty is topped with white American cheese, bacon, caramelized onions, crispy onions and garlic mayo. Get it for $12, dine-in only.

Godfather’s Pizza has a new limited-time offering: Banana Pepper & Sausage Trio. It’s topped with signature sauce, sausage, Italian sausage, sliced Italian sausage, banana peppers, mozzarella and seasoned cheese.

April’s featured flavors at Oh My Cupcakes are Randy’s Chocolate Razz, Razz My Berries, The Bunny Hop, Strawberry Shortcake, Coco Loco and The Zebra.

The new spring lineup at Yonutz features four fruity flavors: fresh berry, blueberry cheesecake, lemon meringue and strawberry shortcake.

Fernson Distilling Co., playing off of Fernson Brewing Co.’s Skip Day Hard Seltzer, has created Skip Day Vodka Soda, made with its Clearwing Vodka. Flavors include passion fruit, blood orange and lime. The beverages are made with real fruit and no added sugar. Find them in a can at Fernson Downtown, the north-side brewery, liquor stores, and restaurants and bars that carry Fernson beverages. Once Totally Rad Pizza opens, they’ll be served there too.

Applebee’s is featuring $6 Muchos. Flavors include the new Adios, a Caribbean blue Long Island tea, with rum, gin, vodka, blue curacao, lemon sour and lemon-lime soda. and Watermelon Mana Margarita.

Over at Chili’s Grill & Bar, the Marg of the Month is The Peachy Dream for $6.

Coffea Roasting Co. has released its spring menu. Available at all cafes: May Flowers, a mocktail-inspired drink with vanilla, pear juice, hibiscus concentrate and coconut milk. Louise and downtown: April Showers, an iced orange juice-based beverage with espresso and maple syrup. Dawley Farm Village: London Bridge, a latte made with espresso, raw sugar syrup and Earl Gray-steeped milk. Returning favorites at all locations: lavender latte, jade tea latte and lemon blueberry bread.

April featured drinks at The Breaks Coffee Roasting Co. are Wabbit Season, a caramelized carrot latte, and Hugo Slay, a high-grade Yunnan black tea from Hugo Tea Co. that features essential oil of Italian bergamot. It’s served iced with an almond-ginger-lavender syrup and an orange blossom cold foam.

7 Brew Coffee has introduced its Spring Sips: Original Brunette Mocha, Cherry Blossom Green Tea, Midnight Rain 7 Energy, Georgia Peach 7 Fizz Soda and White Mac Cold Brew.

The spring lineup at The Human Bean includes Peach Fling Bright Energy, Strawberry Fields Lemonade and Matcha Berry.

- 212 The Boiling Point in Brandon is no longer open for lunch on Monday through Wednesday. New hours are 4 p.m. to close those days. The bar and grill still opens at 11 a.m. on Thursday through Sunday. Closes at 10 M-TH and 11 F-Sun
- Squealer’s Smoke Shack in Tea has returned to being open on Mondays.
- Summer hours have arrived at The Breaks Coffee Roasting Co.: 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.
