Restaurant Roundup: Nunzio’s opens; Credo’s Pub closes temporarily

If Nunzio’s Food Hall was on your Downtown Burger Battle list, it just opened Wednesday at Cherapa Place. It’s starting off with limited hours of 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. In addition to the featured Stromboli Burger, the menu includes salads, pizzas and desserts. It’s at 319 N. Reid Place on the first floor of The Dakota Flats building.

Credo’s Pub in northwest Sioux Falls is closing temporarily beginning Friday, management said in a post on social media. “We will keep you updated on future plans. Remember to visit our sister pub, BB’s, located a block away.” Credo’s opened three years ago this month at University Hills Village along Marion Road, followed by BB’s Pub in February 2024 at Marion and University Trail.

The Taste of New Orleans featured menus are available for a limited time at 22Ten Kitchen Cocktails.

Big Lost Meadery & Brewery and Ranch & Roost at Lake Lorraine have added a happy hour. From 3 to 6 p.m. daily, get half-price beer and wings.

Pizza Cheeks has expanded its weekday lunch offer of pizza by the slice and its Pick 2 for $12 to the weekend. Available slices typically include pepperoni, cheese, specialty and a vegetarian option. Lunch hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily.

WoodGrain Brewing Co. is organizing a hotdish competition in February at the downtown location. Four casseroles will compete each Saturday at 1 p.m., and the crowd will pick its favorite. Winners will advance to the final March 7. At least one spot remains for each week as of today. Sign up at the taproom.

M.I. Nuts Co. in Canton has added breakfast on Sundays from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Owner Michelle Oas said she got her start as a short-order breakfast cook when she was a teenager and jokes that she hasn’t lost her touch. Options include standards like French toast, pancakes, biscuits and gravy, eggs, bacon and sausage. Oas has a weekly featured item too. This Sunday, it will be stuffed French toast with a choice of toppings: banana caramel pecan or triple berry. There’s a kids menu too. With the addition of Sundays, the restaurant is closed now on Saturdays.

Yonutz now sells mini smashed doughnuts. The ice cream-filled treats come in four flavors: Nutella Crunch, Biscoff Cheesecake, Strawberry Shortcake and Cookies N Cream, and they’re available in packages of four, 12 or 24. These are pre-made, sold frozen and ready for pickup anytime. Let them sit out for about 15 minutes and they’re ready to eat.

Squealer’s Smoke Shack in Tea has added a couple of new menu items and brought back a few favorites. There’s a new Taco Flatbread and a Spicy Marinara Pasta, which features three of the restaurant’s Boudin Balls. The Buffalo Chopped Chicken Sandwich is back, along with the Hawaiian Burger topped with pulled pork, pineapple, provolone and teriyaki sauce and the French Dip Burger that’s topped with provolone and sauteed mushrooms and onions. The restaurant now has gluten-free bun and noodle options.

Wendy’s has a new value-focused menu with three price points. Each deal — the $4 Biggie Bites, the $6 Biggie and the $8 Biggie Bundle — offers sandwich choices or chicken nuggets, junior fries and a small soft drink.

Lobsterfest is back at Red Lobster. The create-your-own option and several entrees like the Lobster Flatbread and Lobster & Shrimp Linguine have returned. New items include Lobster Pasta au Gratin, Crispy Dragon Teriyaki Lobster, the Lobsterfest Duo and a Lobster Fest Boil.

New-for-winter items at Cracker Barrel include several returning favorites and a new item. The new breakfast burger is topped with American cheese, hash brown casserole, bacon and a sunny-side-up egg. It comes with one classic side. Returning favorites include Eggs in the Basket, Hamburger Steak, Southern BBQ Ribs, Hashbrown Casserole Tots, Broccoli Cheese Casserole and Chicken n’ Dumpling Soup. For takeout, there’s a new all-day chocolate chip or pecan pancake breakfast family meal. In addition to the choice of pancakes with syrup, it comes with scrambled eggs, choice of breakfast meat and hash brown casserole or fried apples. There’s also a new family meal with grilled tenders and fried tender dippers with three sauces, two classic sides and buttermilk biscuits.

Caribou Coffee has new breakfast bowls. The Denver and the Fiesta are made with cage-free scrambled eggs and potatoes. The Denver has ham, cheddar, green pepper and onion, and the Fiesta has red pepper, spinach, Monterey Jack and salsa verde. The coffee chain also brought back its Cinnamon Sugar drinks, along with a new nitro version and cold foam.

Ziggi’s Coffee has several new food items on the menu. One new egg bite has bacon, cheddar cheese and green chiles. The other has tomato, spinach, kale and feta with egg whites. There’s a Cheesy Chicken Melt in a flour tortilla, grilled cheese or ham and cheese on a croissant, and a panini with turkey, provolone and pesto. For dessert, Frosted Lemon Bread and Cookies ‘N Cream Cake Pop have returned for a limited time.

CNC Food Factory, the cafe inside the GreatLIFE at Avera McKennan Fitness Center, has a new doughnut – Lemon Crunch — and two returning ones – Strawberry Crunch and Neapolitan — on the menu. CNC bakes its doughnuts instead of frying them and offers regular and gluten-free versions.

Events

Icon Event Hall and The Premiere Playhouse are offering dinner theater performances of “I and You” Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoon. The three-course meal, prepared by DaDa Gastropub, includes a citrus salad, beef bourguignon or a vegetarian option, and a poached pear. Get tickets and showtime information here.

The new owners of McNally’s Irish Pub are keeping up the Burns Night tradition. On Saturday, the celebration of Scottish poet Robert Burns will begin with Scotch tasting from 4 to 6 p.m. After that, witness the dramatic parade of the haggis, the ceremonial slicing of it — all set to the reading of Burns’ works — music from Dakota District Pipes & Drums and plenty of Guinness and whiskey to drink.

The east-side Attic Bar & Grill and Ass’ociates & Co. are donating 10 percent of dining sales from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to the South Dakota chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Myrtle’s Fur Vault & Bar is hosting a cocktail dinner at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Each course will be paired with a handcrafted cocktail, with guests able to choose from alcoholic, zero-proof or THC-infused selections. Tickets are $75 plus tax and tip, and reservations are required.

Changes in hours, service

  • Five Guys Burgers and Fries has launched a catering platform through ezCater.com. Businesses can order everything from small bundles to bigger build-you-own bars. Employees can customize their order. Five Guys also offers catering through its website with a 15-sandwich minimum.
  • The Breaks Coffee Roasting Co. will be closed Jan. 26-Feb. 2 for its annual winter break.
  • Titans Tavern is Tea is keeping its kitchen open later – until 11 p.m. – from Thursday through Saturday.
