Chick-fil-A indefinitely suspends dining service

Sept. 29, 2021

It’s not clear whether Sioux Falls has created so much demand for Chick-fil-A — or if there isn’t enough staff yet to meet it — but days after opening, the dining room and lobby now are closed.

The restaurant at Empire Place in front of The Empire Mall still is operating from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, but it’s drive-thru-only service.

A statement from Chick-fil-A called it a temporary adjustment but didn’t say what was prompting the change. There had been extra staff in from other markets for opening weekend.

“Opening weekend was tremendous. The Sioux Falls community showed up in a big way, and we are thankful for all the support,” general manager Jeremiah Heiser said in the statement.

Chick-fil-A opens to all-day lines
