Restaurant Roundup: Final international nights, new daily specials, Oktoberfest foods

Sept. 18, 2025

The final installment of Passport to the World: International Nights is coming up Friday and Saturday. Parker’s Bistro and Myrtle’s Fur Vault & Bar are featuring a Barcelona-inspired tapas tasting menu and Spanish wines; DaDa Gastropub is celebrating Rio de Janeiro with fritters and pao de quelijo to eat, bala baiana and caipirinha to drink and samba lessons; and Club David is headed to Munich with German-inspired food and drink and a late-night dance party.

Falls Overlook Cafe, which is operated by Stensland Family Farms, has added made-from-scratch daily specials that will change every week. Other specials that are available daily are a three-soup flight for $11, soup in a bread bowl for $10 and a half-sandwich and cup of soup for $10. Cafe hours are 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Here’s a look at the first week’s menu.

The all-you-can-eat waffle bar is back at Yakkity Yak Coffee Shack on Saturday mornings. The cafe is in All American Gymanstics Academy, which features open gym time then.

The Oktoberfest featured menu has returned at 22Ten Kitchen Cocktails and will be available until mid-October. The salad, strudel and dessert are new this year. The Lingonberry Salmon and Sauerbraten Klopse — shown at the top of the page — are returning favorites.

Oktoberfest offerings this month at The Tavern Grill are Midwest Schnitzel with breaded pork loin and a lemon mushroom cream sauce and the Sausage Trio with Smoked Polish, Beer Bratwurst and Elk Jalapeno Cheddar sausages.

Granite City Food & Brewery is featuring some of its upcoming Oktoberfest menu items on its buffet Sunday. Among the offerings: sauerbraten, spaetzle pasta with German beer bratwurst and German potato salad.

Taking advantage of produce season, Pizza Cheeks has a new featured pizza this month. Chorizo & Corn starts with a local sweet corn and jalapeno puree base and is topped with fresh and dry mozzarella, locally made chorizo, queso fresco and fresh pico de gallo. Also featured this month are corn fritters served with a basil aioli.

There’s still time to try the September specials at Monks Ale House. The featured pizza is Volcano Chicken with pineapple habanero barbecue sauce, roasted chicken, bacon, red onion, green onion, roasted pineapple and crispy onions. The featured sandwich is Monks Cubano with mojo pork, ham, provolone, mozzarella, pickles and grainaise on a hoagie.

The B&G Milkyway at Harmodon Park on East 41st Street won the local chain’s Avalanche Battle in August with Biscoff Blitz. It’s no longer on the menu but could return as a limited promotional item, said Andrew Gibbins, who owns the ice cream shop with his wife, Lindsay. Keep an eye on the shop’s Facebook page to see if it returns before the season ends.

Here are the fall lunch specials at Crack’d Pot Restaurant & Bakery. They’re available from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m daily.

Verde Lounge in the Holiday Inn City Centre has added weekday specials.

New fall treats at Perch are the Apple Caramel Streusel Danish and S’mores Scone.

IHOP has launched its first value menu with four breakfast meals: Breakfast Faves Combo, Ham & Cheese Omelette, French Toast Faves Combo and House Scramble. In Sioux Falls, they’re available from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Friday.

It’s Hatch green chile season, and Sickies Garage Burgers & Brews has a limited-time menu of items featuring queso made with the peppers from New Mexico and chorizo. Get it as dip with tortilla chips, on a burger and on shaved sirloin or fire-braised chicken hoagies.

Subway has four new Fresh Fit subs: Grilled Chicken & Avocado, Ham & Turkey Stacker, Seasoned Steak & Avocado and Turkey & Ranch Delite. The subs on multigrain bread feature 20 grams or more of protein, a full serving of veggies and fewer than 500 calories for the 6-inch sub.

Taco John’s has two new flavors of Meat & Potato Burritos for a limited time: Spicy Beef & Jalapeno and Cripsy Chicken Bacon Ranch.

The pop-up bundtlet flavor at Nothing Bundt Cakes is Caramel Apple Cider. It should be available into next week.

Changes in hours, service

  • The first B&G Milkyway closing of the season is approaching. The final day for the location on West 12th Street is Sunday. Stock up on half-gallon Avalanches and grab bags of novelty treats.
  • Mechanical issues are bringing an early end to The Black Sheep Food Truck’s inaugural season. To use up the final inventory, the owners will be taking orders and making deliveries. Find details on Facebook. They said the truck will be back next year.
