Restaurant Roundup: Cheap breakfast, Saturday brunch return, Thanksgiving pizzas

Fryn’ Pan restaurants have a “door-buster” special this month: Get the Fryn’ Pan Breakfast with two eggs, two strips of bacon and two hot cakes for $4. The special price is available from 6 to 11 a.m. weekdays.

Saturday brunch is back at the recently reopened Swamp Daddy’s Cajun Kitchen. The buffet will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday until January when the Downtown Burger Battle starts, owner Inkka Beaudion said. Bottomless mimosas will be available for an extra charge. Each week will feature a DJ playing music.

Want your entire Thanksgiving dinner on a pizza? Invictus Pizza Kitchen is featuring The Wild Turkey this month. The crust is brushed with garlic butter and topped with cheddar cheese, roasted turkey, stuffing, garlic baked potatoes, green bean casserole and crispy onion strings. It’s finished with dried cranberries and comes with gravy for dripping or drizzling. There’s also a special Vodka Margherita pizza this month.

Papa Woody’s Wood Fired Pizza has been making a Thanksgiving pizza for several years. The Gobbler features a pizza crust topped with mashed potatoes, turkey, gravy, stuffing and corn, topped with a sprinkle of cheddar cheese and drizzled with cranberry sauce.

Oh My Cupcakes has added pancake mixes and savory snack mixes to its product offerings. The pancake mix flavors are birthday cake and cinnamon brown sugar, and the Magical Munchie Mix includes flavors like ranch, buffalo and honey barbecue. Other new offerings include the November cupcake flavors of sweet potato spice and pecan pie. The bakery also is taking orders for the Gather and Give Dozen for Thanksgiving gatherings.

Tinners Public House and Tinners North have new food and drink features for November.

Gourmet cookie flavors for November at Breadsmith are oatmeal raisin, chocolate peanut butter, cherry cheesecake and pecan pie. They’re available Fridays and Saturdays.

Here are the drink specials for November at Josiah’s Coffeehouse, Cafe & Bakery: Caramel Apple, Pie Latte, Birthday Cake Cold Press, Fall Punch and Salted Nut Roll Latte. Not pictured: Pumpkin Pie Chai and “Smoky” London Fog.

November featured drinks at The Breaks Coffee Roasting Co. are the Orange Julia with orange citrus and caramel flavors, dusted with cinnamon and freshly microplaned nutmeg seed, and the Hot Nutella with the hazelnut cocoa spread and a double shot of 78 Espresso.

Coffea Roasterie at Dawley Farm Village has introduced its seasonal drinks. The Brown Sugar Cardamom Latte features Coffea’s housemade brown sugar cardamom syrup, espresso and milk. Order it hot or iced. The Great Pumpkin Latte is the coffee shop’s take on a classic pumpkin latte – an iced brown sugar latte topped with a pumpkin foam.

New dinner menu items at Chef Lance’s on Phillips are Jenny’s Filet and Scallops, Smothered Pork Chop, Chicken and Broccolini Alfredo and the Deluxe Burger. The restaurant also has added a rotating soup for lunch and dinner in addition to the always-available French Onion.

Cracker Barrel’s new seasonal menu features returning favorites like Country Fried Turkey and six new featured items: Hashbrown Casserole Shepherd’s Pie, Pot Roast, Cinnamon Swirl French Toast Breakfast, Signature Fried Apple French Toast Bake, DIY Hot Chocolate Bar and a Sparkling Plum Mimosa. Seasonal pie options include Cinnamon Roll, Apple Streusel, Pecan, Chocolate Pecan and Pumpkin.

Two bakeries are collaborating on corporate holiday gift baskets. They’ll include a choice of dessert bars and cupcakes from Baking up a Storm  and customized logo cookies from One Smart Cookie.

This weekend, Gregg’s Substation is hosting “Saturday for Sopheyah” to raise money for an employee’s daughter who has been diagnosed with a paraganglioma tumor blocking her ear canal. All sales from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. will go to the family to help with expenses. For those who wish to donate but can’t make it Saturday, a GoFundMe account has been set up.

Friday is the annual Burgers for Birger fundraiser at BB’s Pub and Credo’s Pub. They’ll donate $5 for every burger purchased to Dakota Lions Sight & Health and take donations from customers. The event honors the memory of Shane Birger, the owner’s son who died two years ago and was an organ donor.

Chasers Food & Spirits is offering construction workers at 10 percent discount this month. The offer is good from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays. “We cannot express how thankful we are to have people as talented as you men and women who work day and night in all kinds of crazy weather. Here’s a big thank you from the staff and Chasers.”

Rewards members at Goodcents can have their 6-inch or larger sub turned into a combo meal for free every Tuesday in November. The code is TASTY.

To celebrate National Chicken Sandwich Day, which is Saturday, Wingstop is offering a free chicken sandwich with a qualifying purchase through Sunday. Use the code FREESAMMY for online orders.

Subway has added a seasonal treat to its footlong offerings. The Double Chocolate Peppermint Footlong Cookie is $5. BTW, chocolate chip is still available.

Seasonal Kringlestix are available at Toppers Pizza. Flavors are apple or raspberry streusel.

The chain also has introduced pan pizza.

Uppercut Lounge is hosting a minnow race tournament Friday. Signup begins at 7 p.m., with the races at 8 p.m. With a $5 entry fee, the winner takes the entire pot. And while you’re there, congratulate the team on its recent perfect score of 100 during a city health inspection. The owners rewarded each employee with $100.

The traveling food truck On the Hook Fish and Chips will be back in Sioux Falls on Saturday. Find it in the parking lot of the west-side Menards from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Changes in hours, service

  • Windy City Bites reopened its brick-and-mortar location Wednesday after being closed since Oct. 10 because of mechanical issues in the building.
  • Sweet Cheeks has shifted to winter hours: 2 to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 2 to 10:30 p.m. Friday, noon to 10:30 p.m. Saturday and noon to 10 p.m. Sunday. The shop, which makes soft-serve ice cream, frozen yogurt and dairy-free sorbet and features 50 topping options, changes flavors every Wednesday.
  • The Cookie Jar Eatery is staying open an hour later on Saturdays, now until 3 p.m.
