Newest Year Round Brown converts restaurant into large tanning location

Feb. 11, 2022

Sometimes life syncs up in interesting ways.

For Zach Neugebauer, that meant opening a business and welcoming a baby within 24 hours.

“We had a baby at 4:43 a.m. Sunday and opened the store Monday morning,” said Neugebauer, owner of Year Round Brown.

“But everything went smooth, and we’re super thankful.”

While baby Vivian makes them a family of five, the latest Year Round Brown along West 57th Street in The Bridges at 57th development also is designed to serve a growing crowd.

It’s a former restaurant, most recently Rudy M. Navarette’s Tex-Mexican, which appealed to Neugebauer largely for its parking.

“The biggest thing was we wanted a bigger parking lot and a bigger store,” he said.

“We’re really proud of it. The feedback has been really positive, and we’ve been really busy since we opened.”

He added 2,000 square feet on the back of the building to create a 5,400-square-foot store and enclosed the former patio into a 1,200-square-foot space available to lease.

“We’ve had a lot of interest,” he added. “We’ve had a nail salon, a hair salon look. I think something like that would fit really well.”

Year Round Brown has “all state-of-the-art” equipment, Neugebauer said. “Five levels of sun bed tanning, spray tanning, and we’re offering air brushing, which is our second location with an air brush studio.”

The location replaces one he leased at 57th Street and Louise Avenue. Hours are 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. weekdays, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday.
