New DIY tie-dye studio ready to open

May 26, 2023

Get ready to tie-dye without making a mess at home.

That’s the premise behind Color Splash Studio owned by sisters Melanie Hite and Molly Quarve, which opens today.

It’s located in a retail center along Marion Road between Salon Centric and Hotworx at the entrance to the Lake Lorraine development.

“The build-out has exceeded our expectations,” Quarve said, adding that general contractor Perrion Drywall and Remodeling and subcontractors Electric Supply, Sioux Falls Plumbing and Weg Mechanical Air “were hands-down the best of the best and very fun to work with. They did everything we asked and more.”

Color Splash Studio will provide blank white T-shirts in adult and child sizes, or customers can bring their own items to dye.

“We have had several messages and in-person conversations from potential customers asking about booking birthday parties and when we will be open,” Hite said. “A lot of people have said what a great idea it is, and they can’t wait to try it out. The response has been overwhelming and extremely supportive.”

The studio will have 12 sinks, accommodating parties of up to two per sink, and will offer food to purchase while customers wait. While parties can make a reservation, the concept is for walk-in customers looking for something fun and quick to do.

“We’re primarily walk-in and will do our best to accommodate groups of any size but would recommend booking an appointment if possible for parties of five or more to reduce wait time,” Hite said.

Hours will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
