Drybar will return to Sioux Falls with new franchisee
June 20, 2025
Drybar is coming back to Sioux Falls.
Kim Perez will be the franchisee for the location at Empire Place. It first opened in the summer of 2023, then closed in April 2024.
Perez, who is based in Lennox, has three decades of experience as a franchisee for eight Sun Tan City locations in Iowa. She’s also the franchisee of Waxing the City’s two Sioux Falls locations, as well as three in Iowa, plus Hotworx in Mankato, Minnesota.
She recently sold her North Dakota Waxing the City markets, and “that’s the reason I decided to take on Drybar,” she said. “I jut really like the concept. I love the fact they just do the blowouts and they’re not cutting and coloring, and it’s just a fun, happy atmosphere and people love it.”
Drybar will be hiring for stylists, managers and a shop educator who will train in blowout styles.
The space at 4123 W. 41st St. already is set up for Drybar because the hope had been for a new franchisee to take over.
While hiring “is a challenge,” Perez has navigated it with her other concepts. Drybar roles are a good fit for newer cosmetologists or “someone who is in the field and is tired of hair cutting and coloring and they love the styling part,” she said.
At this point, she sees Sioux Falls as a single-location market.
The plan is to open sometime in August.

Perez said she’s looking forward to working with Waxing the City, Face Foundrie and Amazing Lash Studio to co-promote services.
“I think it’s going to be pretty powerful with the four of us working together in this industry,” she said.
