Downtown restaurants battled it out with burgers, and this one emerged the winner

Feb. 2, 2018

Diners voted, and a burger named for the historic building where it’s served has been named the winner of the 2018 Downtown Burger Battle.

The Harvester Burger was created by chefs at The Market, which is in the Harvester Building at 196 E. Sixth St.

It’s a freshly ground beef patty that’s topped with Chef Greg’s house-made bacon, Valley Side Ringneck Cheddar, garlic and parsley aioli, and local greenhouse lettuce.

The win marks the third consecutive burger championship for The Market, which took the top prize against five other burgers this year. Categories that were rated for the win included patty, presentation, toppings, bun and customer service.

A record 3,317 burgers were sold and votes cast among the six participating restaurants in 2018, a 30 percent increase from last year.

The Market posted on Facebook that it will continue serving the winning burger through the weekend.
