Online boutique to expand into storefront

Online boutique owner Kayla Tjaden is opening a storefront.

Klutch Trends opens Saturday in the Remington Pointe retail center on 69th Street west of Western Avenue.

Tjaden describes the fashions as classy chic.

“A lot of my lines are newer, higher-end and all are exclusive to Sioux Falls.”

The shop will carry women’s clothing, accessories, shoes, makeup and jewelry, “basically from head to toe,” Tjaden said.

She started Klutch Trends online two years ago with lower price point “typical boutique clothing,” and as sales grew, she started looking for higher-end designers and began offering trunk shows.

The bricks-and-mortar version of Klutch Trends isn’t the final step for Tjaden’s brand. The 2008 graduate of Iowa State University, who has a degree in apparel merchandising, design and production, hopes to carry her own fashion line within the coming year. Tjaden plans to work with a seamstress in Kansas City on her designs, describing them as “an Audrey Hepburn style.”

Klutch Trends will be in the former Dirt Road Diamond space, next to A Perfect 10 Nail & Beauty Bar. It will have three part-time employees, and Tjaden said her mom will help out, too. She’s looking for additional staff, knowing that she’ll be busy also running her dance studio in Sioux Rapids, Iowa.

Hours will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Wednesday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday.
