Panel of tax experts to address timely topics for businesses

From business tax accounting to tax law, state taxes and tax changes, small-business owners can access a range of experts at an event Feb. 8.

Zeal Center for Entrepreneurship’s I.N. After Hours event is free and held at Prairie Berry East Bank from 4 to 6 p.m.

Panelists are Bretta Bullion, a senior revenue analyst for the South Dakota Department of Revenue; Dan Doyle, a partner at Cutler Law Firm LLP; and Heath Kooiman, a CPA with Woltman Group.

The hour-long discussion will be followed by an hour of networking. Panelists will discuss current tax topics of interest, including:

  • New provisions of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.
  • Changes to federal and state taxes.
  • Individual itemized deductions.
  • Pass-through income: 20 percent deduction on certain income.
  • Accelerated depreciation.
  • Corporate tax rate cut and corporate AMT repeal.
