Longtime Brandon bar, grill reopens

June 25, 2025

A longtime Brandon bar and grill has reopened under new ownership with a new menu.

Casie Scott and “behind-the-scenes” business partner Rick Lindeman bought 212 The Boiling Point from Kyle Thill.

Thill had closed the bar in late March after trying to sell it for the past year and a half.

Lindeman saw it was for sale and turned to Scott for insight because of her background in the restaurant industry.

“We toured it a couple of times, thought it was the right fit and started negotiating,” said Scott, who has worked over the years at The Keg, which her parents own.

The new owners “overhauled” the kitchen and did some updating in the dining room, which seats just over 100 customers, she said. New chairs are coming for the bar, and there’s still some redecorating to do.

The bar reopened June 5 with the same name.

“People know it,” Scott said. “It’s a small town, and it’s easy to know where it’s at. You say ‘212,’ and they know. The race community (at nearby Huset’s Speedway), they know it. We kept it rather than trying to market a whole new restaurant.”

The menu is a “work in progress,” said Scott, who is serving as general manager and creating all the recipes. She plans to keep adding items throughout the summer.

“Currently, we do burgers, pizzas, wraps, traditional bar food like wings, breaded onion rings, mushrooms and cheeseballs.”

The menu features five burgers, along with a build-your-own option. Two burgers that are early favorites are the Hot BBQ Pineapple and one with peanut butter and whiskey bacon jam, Scott said, noting that the patties are one-third of a pound.

There are seven specialty pizzas like chicken alfredo and the Inferno, and customers can build their own with about 15 ingredients to pick from, she said. The pizzas are a hand-tossed, 16-inch crust. Flatbreads are personal sized.

For lighter fare, Scott has concocted the Strawberry Fields wrap with romaine, grilled chicken, sliced strawberries, slivered almonds, Parmesan and a raspberry vinaigrette in a spinach wrap.

There are grilled or fried chicken sandwiches, with buffalo sauce as an option too.

The bar features 18 taps for beer with four rotating seasonal options. A popular combination for summer is the Beach Bum, Scott said, which combines Kona Big Wave and Mango Cart from Golden Road Brewing. The Boiling Point also has a full liquor license, with classics like whiskey and Coke as the favorites, she said.

Soon, there will be a video lottery casino area with 10 machines.

Scott said she’s still adding to the staff of 26 full- and part-time workers and hopes to have enough staff eventually to open earlier in the day.

Current hours are 3 to 11 p.m. daily and sometimes later on race nights if there’s a crowd.
