Here’s a look at recent changes in the business landscape in the Sioux Falls area.
Central Kitchen & Bath has opened a luxury showroom at 501 N. Kiwanis Ave. for homeowners, interior designers and builders. It offers everything from cabinetry and appliances to showers and tubs to lighting and fixtures. Central Kitchen & Bath, which also has a showroom in Sioux City, is a division of Plumbing and Heating Wholesale Inc.
The Human Bean’s first location in Sioux Falls has started serving coffee and other drinks. The locally owned franchise of the Oregon-based chain offers drive-thru and walk-up service at 2801 E. Jackson St., which is along 69th west of Southeastern. The menu includes coffee and espresso drinks, full-leaf teas, infused Bright Energy drinks made with caffeine from green coffee beans, smoothies and Italian sodas. Food options include a breakfast burrito, bagel, sandwiches, sweet treats and locally made Wholly Balls protein bites. Hours are 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the weekend.
After almost seven years in business, Dart Boutique is closing. Final hours for the store at The Bridges at 57th will be 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Owner Leslie Dolby started the boutique in Tea before moving it to Sioux Falls in 2022. She is going back to school to earn a master’s degree in special education.
Yonutz has opened at 2802 W. 41st St. The locally owned franchise specializes in smashed doughnuts, which are combined with ice cream in a variety of flavors. The shop also includes Clawz, an arcade with 10 claw machines. Hours are 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
McNally’s Irish Pub has returned under new ownership. The bar and restaurant at 6211 S. Old Village Place originally opened in 2006 and closed late last year. Booths have been added to separate the dining room and bar area. All ages are welcome in the dining room, with the bar area set aside for those 21 and older. The kitchen added a fryer, which allowed for a revised menu, but many of McNally’s favorites remain. Hours are 11 a.m. to midnight Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday. The kitchen closes at 10 p.m. daily.
The food truck Taqueria Gonzalez has expanded into the former west-side Burger Time building. Owner Ricardo Gonzalez had been using the parking lot of the vacant property at 2300 W. 12th St. as a base for the food truck last fall and again this spring. Now, Gonzalez has a full kitchen to use, and he has expanded his hours and menu to include breakfast and other entrees. It’s open daily. Gonzalez will continue to use the food truck for events.
American Bank & Trust has opened two branches in new buildings. The new location in Tea opened about a month ago at 801 E. Gateway Blvd. and replaced a site acquired through a merger with Valley Exchange Bank in 2023. A grand opening will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. June 26. Last week, American opened a branch on the west side of Sioux Falls, its fourth in the city. The location at 8401 W. 26th St. will hold its grand opening from 4 to 7 p.m. Aug. 6.
A local group of investors has purchased Spring Creek Golf Course with a plan to improve it while continuing to operate it as a public course. The 126-acre, 18-hole course southeast of Sioux Falls was built in 1994. The course will continue operating under its current management while new owner Fore Score LLC, led by Dann Grevlos, works through an operational transition sometime this summer.
Kelly Construction has acquired a 300-acre tract of development-ready land along a full mile of Louise Avenue between Highway 106 and 272nd Street. Artessa will be a master-planned residential community. Construction of streets and utilities is slated to begin this spring, with residential lots available to both builders and individuals starting in late 2025.
Jersey Mike’s Subs is expanding to Brandon. The national chain has leased space next to Scooter’s Coffee in a retail center at Holly and Sioux boulevards. It’s expected to open this fall.
