Here’s a look at recent changes in the business landscape in the Sioux Falls area.

Toys R Us has opened inside Macy’s at The Empire Mall. While the store-within-a-store at Macy’s opened for the holiday season, it is a permanent addition. Toys R Us had a standalone store on The Empire Mall campus until it closed in 2018 as part of a nationwide bankruptcy.

Launch Servicing has moved to a larger office at 5109 S. Broadband Lane. The number of employees has almost doubled in the past two months to a staff of 110. The new office has room for up to 400 employees, who also do work for sister company Turnstile Capital Management. Launch has expanded from servicing student loans to other consumer categories, including residential solar, home improvement, elective medical and personal loans. Turnstile does data visualization and debt collection.

Paul and Desiree Osborne have moved their home-based businesses, Help You Advance and Tea Soulution, from Michigan to South Dakota. Help You Advance focuses on website development, graphic design and social media management, and Tea Soulution is a handcrafted tea business. The couple, who lives in Colton, also is planning to open Meeting Nook in downtown Dell Rapids. It will sell tea and serve as a gathering place.

BB’s Pub N Grill is closing Saturday at 3400 W. 49th St. but will reopen sometime next month in a retail space in one of the apartment buildings at University Hills Village along North Marion Road. The space at 5520 W. Success St. will be a temporary home called Credo’s Pub while a new location for BB’s is built nearby at 5400 W. University Trail. The new building will include a liquor store.

Empower U, which offers performance physical therapy services and group fitness training, will have its own space next year. It has been operating out of other fitness studios but is building a 4,600-square-foot home near 85th and Cliff.

Avera Health is opening its newest clinic and emergency department on the east side of Sioux Falls, with most services scheduled to start Jan. 4. In addition to emergency care and an urgent care clinic, other services at Avera Medical Group Family Health Center – Dawley Farm include family medicine, urgent care, obstetrics/gynecology, pediatrics, internal medicine and dermatology. The building along 26th Street and Veterans Parkway will start with 17 providers, with room to about double that according to demand.

Peyton Johnson of Sioux Falls has expanded her online Western-themed jewelry business into a full women’s clothing boutique with additional accessories and some home decor. Leave Her Wild is in Larchwood, Iowa, and is open limited hours.

Donald Napolitano is the new owner of Pizza di Paolo and has renamed it Bella Cucina Italian Ristorante, his “beautiful kitchen.” Napolitano is the brother of founder Dennis Napolitano, who operated the pizzeria with his wife, Linda, until he died a year ago. She continued to run it. Donald Napolitano is installing more kitchen equipment and plans to expand the menu to include soups, flatbreads and a few pasta dishes.

Fit My Feet has opened a discount shoe outlet on The Empire Mall campus. It’s located in the former Payless ShoeSource stand-alone store on the north side of the mall.

A restaurant specializing in Korean fried chicken has opened near the Western Mall. Oppa Chicken, 3412 S. Western Ave., also serves other popular Korean dishes. It’s open daily for lunch and dinner.

Neighborhood Market has reopened after being burglarized and vandalized. Owner Hayder Hayyawi decided to keep operating at 4508 E. 12th St. instead of relocating to a second market that’s in the works. A restaurant in the Mediterranean market, Sahara Grill & Cuisine, remains closed.

Josiah’s Coffeehouse, Cafe & Bakery, 104 W. 12th St., will be closed Jan. 3-17 while the kitchen is remodeled.

A Mexican restaurant on the east side of downtown has closed but hopes to come back sometime next year. Eric Nunez and partners started T-Juanita Street Food and Cheladas in June in the former Jacky’s Restaurant building at 702 E. Eighth St.

Voyage Federal Credit Union is planning to merge with Vermillion Federal Credit Union. The Vermillion branch would operate under the Voyage name if the merger is approved. Voyage also is seeking to expand its membership area to include 25 counties in four states.

The Sioux Falls chapter of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul is adding a second thrift store. The society purchased land at 41st and Ellis a year ago and plans to break ground in the spring and open in the fall. The new store will be larger than the current one at 431 N. Cliff Ave. and will include a training area for volunteers.

Brookings-based Dakota Insurance has acquired Fishback Insurance from First Bank & Trust. Dakota Insurance, owned by Brent & Shayna Rohl, is a full-service multi-line insurance agency offering auto, home, commercial, farm, life, health, long-term care and disability insurance. Fishback’s Sioux Falls office at 5900 S. Western Ave. remains open with the same staff under the new name. The Brookings office has moved into Dakota Insurance’s location downtown.
