Here’s a look at recent changes in the business landscape in the Sioux Falls area.

The Buffalo Wild Wings at 909 N. West Ave. will not reopen following last year’s pandemic-driven closure. Opening in 1998, it was the city’s first for the national chain. The other two locations in Sioux Falls remain open.

Kabab King has opened its restaurant and market at 1609 E. 10th St. Moe Fares started the business three years ago as a food truck. For the new venture, he had added a partner, Yasin Alderani. The menu is similar to that of the food truck, which has been sold. The market offers Mediterranean groceries. It’s open daily.

Prairie Cocoa & Confections has opened in the 8th & Railroad Center with a menu of desserts and beverages, including hot cocoas, frozen hot chocolates, mocktails, handcrafted lemonades and “dirty” sodas. The business, which sells rare succulents, cacti and other plants, will be in the former Boki Gelato space in the Jones421 Building on North Phillips Avenue. Books n Brewz Pizzeria has closed. Owner Angela Kull started the business two years ago at 201 N. Weber Ave. An investor stepped in a year ago to keep it afloat, but the pandemic hit proved to be too big.

An “all things nerdy” consignment shop and gaming lounge are closed this month while the businesses move to a larger location. Nrdvana and Nrdy Brdy Lounge are relocating from 2111 W. 49th St. to a building on the northeast corner of 26th and Cliff. The new spaces, former locations of a flower shop and job services center, are twice as big as the current ones, owner Patrick Wilson said. Nrdvana is still taking consignment merchandise and selling it online.

The rapidly expanding restaurant concept Crisp & Green is coming to Sioux Falls. The fast-casual format features salads, grain bowls and smoothies. It will be on the east side of the Western Mall and will be locally owned by franchisee Paul Goldammer, who owns the nearby Potbelly Sandwich Shop. He plans to open the restaurant in June.

Owner Cindy Schmitz plans to open the store by June.

A locally owned independent pet supply store has opened at 1208 W. 41st St. Pawsabilities carries a wide selection of food, accessories and toys for dogs and cats. It also has supplies for small animals such as gerbils, snakes, birds and fish. Owner Rodney Kramer plans to add grooming services and eventually would like to sell small animals, birds and possibly reptiles. It’s open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.
