Raising Cane’s to start construction of first Sioux Falls restaurant

May 13, 2026

Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers has confirmed its first Sioux Falls location.

The fast-casual chain has been issued building permits for demolition and construction at the former David’s Bridal location at 4004 W. 41st St.

A representative for Raising Cane’s confirmed construction is scheduled to start in June, with an opening either later this year or early next year.

Property owners also confirmed the deal.

“Raising Cane’s coming to Sioux Falls shows that we’re no longer a market that national retailers and restaurant chains can overlook,” said Cresten Capital founder Kevin Tupy, who partnered with MarketBeat founder Matt Paulson in the development.

“Sioux Falls has earned its place alongside the larger metros that growing fast-food chains have historically prioritized.”

Raising Cane’s is known for its simplified menu of chicken fingers, a chicken sandwich, crinkle-cut fries, coleslaw, garlic toast and signature Cane’s sauce. Most meals are sold as combos, and there is an option for catering.

“This is a win for Sioux Falls on multiple levels,” Paulson said. “Raising Cane’s will bring dozens of new jobs to the community, generate new tax revenue and create a ripple effect for neighboring businesses along the 41st Street corridor.”

Raising Cane’s has been one of the most sought-after national restaurants in the Sioux Falls market, said Raquel Blount, vice president of commercial real estate for Lloyd Cos., who represented the property.

“People ask about it all the time, and with the proximity to the interstate and Empire Place and The Empire Mall, we think it’s well-placed in the market for success,” she said. “It’s an example of good real estate and a strong location.”

The expansion of a new national name validates the city’s growth, Paulson added.

“For years, Sioux Falls was a city that national brands would get to eventually. That’s changed. I think companies like Raising Cane’s are now proactively seeking us out because they see what we already know: This is a growing, vibrant metro with strong consumer spending and a population that supports the brands it loves.”

Sioux Falls already has shown it will support Raising Cane’s despite not having one in town, Tupy added.

“People here have been driving to Omaha or Sioux City just to get their fix,” he said.

“I’ve lived and built businesses in Sioux Falls for years, and I can tell you the excitement around Raising Cane’s coming to town is real.”

The availability of the David’s Bridal property “opened up a very sought-after opportunity,” Blount said. “We had several interested parties in that parcel.”

That included multiple national tenants “looking to plant a flag in Sioux Falls,” Paulson said. “That kind of demand speaks volumes about how the market views this city. We chose Raising Cane’s because they were the best fit for the corridor and the community.”

The strength of the Raising Cane’s brand made it a fit, Blount added.

“They’re all over the United States and have wanted to be in this market awhile, just waiting for the right location.”
