Businesses all over have completely embraced the spooky season.

Two of them in Sioux Falls include The Attic Bar & Grill on the east side and Blarney Stone Pub downtown.

Both have gone beyond minimal seasonal decor and have fully committed to their Halloween ambiance.

Blarney Stone Pub general manager Nicholas Wanner said the establishment is festive when it comes to all holidays, but Halloween is a special one.

“Every year, we add to our decorations and try to do it better than the last year,” he said.

With the decor, the pub features specialty drink menus and a guaranteed good time.

“We do everything from lights and webs to spiders and animatronics from a local hardware store,” Wanner said.

Both levels of Blarney Stone are decked out.

“I think it’s important to stay up on the holidays and festivities going around town, making people feel like we’re all a part of the community, and it’s fun to create things for the season.”

Another seasonal staple is The Attic Bar & Grill’s east-side location, also decked out with decor from top to bottom with a full, frightful transformation.

Front of house manager Cade Terveer said work begins in early September when three of his employees take the lead.

No square inch is left uncovered, even the hallways near the bathrooms.

“Every year, there’s something a little bit different,” Terveer added.

This year, the team made a skeleton witch displayed in front of a moon made out of a kiddie pool.

They even have a sign at the entrance to warn those with young children or the “faint of heart” that these decorations may not be suitable for certain eyes.

“It’s a lot of work, and hopefully it elevates the experience for people dining,” he said.

The Attic is hosting its annual Halloween night party Friday, promising a “frightfully good time” featuring costumes, cocktails and live music by the Undercover Band.

Blarney Stone is one of several downtown restaurants participating in the Halloween Bar Crawl, offered Friday and Saturday.
