Lowe’s donates $300K to Veterans Community Project
June 26, 2024
Lowe’s has awarded its first Hometown Grant in South Dakota, donating $305,000 to the Veterans Community Project in Sioux Falls.
The grant will help complete five tiny homes for homeless veterans and take another five homes through to the drywall phase. The community has a handful of homes open already and ultimately will have 25 homes, along with a village center offering services to help veterans transition to more permanent housing.
The Lowe’s Hometown Grants are a five-year, $100 million investment to restore and rebuild community spaces nationwide. The projects in 2024 span 88 communities across 44 states and Washington, D.C.
The donation to the Veterans Community Project follows a significant in-kind contribution from David H. and Christine Billion, who are supporting construction of the village center.
