Aug. 12, 2021

Four young professionals have been chosen as this year’s 4 under 40 winners by the Young Professionals Network of the Greater Sioux Falls Chamber of Commerce. They are:

Reggie Kuipers, president, Bender Commercial Real Estate Services

Kuipers is a commercial real estate broker who has facilitated hundreds of transactions across the state over the past decade, recently becoming the firm’s president at age 37. He also volunteers with the Young Professionals Network, Downtown Sioux Falls Inc., Dakota Business Finance and the South Dakota Chamber of Commerce & Industry. “He is described by his nominators as a great leader, a great mentor and a trusted adviser,” said Katie Ashmore, who co-hosted the awards ceremony.

Stephanie Larscheid, executive director of the Prairie Family Business Association

Larscheid is a nonprofit leader who has a “passion for serving businesses and giving them the tools that they need to succeed,” said event co-host Matt Paulson. “She was nominated for this award by three of her board members for going above and beyond the duties listed on her job description, growing her organization’s membership list, reaching the organization’s endowment goal and doing whatever she can to serve her nonprofit members. She is described by her nominators as having the heart of a servant, unmatched ambition and an ability to get things done.”

James Payer, director of marketing and business development, The Empire Mall

Payer “has a reputation for being involved with anything and everything that is happening in Sioux Falls,” Ashmore said. “He is described as a leader, a connector, a motivator and having an ability to connect with people from all walks of life.”

Payer is a dedicated volunteer with the Sioux Empire United Way, serving on its board and helping lead its annual fundraising efforts. He is also an active volunteer with the Chamber of Commerce, YPN, the Washington Pavilion, the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.

Taylor Rehfeldt, nurse anesthetist, Sanford Health and a representative in the South Dakota Legislature.

Rehfeldt was one of the first to graduate with a Doctor of Anesthesia degree in South Dakota and was instrumental in passing Senate Bill 50, which granted certified nurse anesthetists full practice authority in South Dakota.

“She is active in the advancement of her alma mater, Mount Marty University, helping the state retain its certified nurse anesthetist graduates,” Paulson said. “She has clearly moved the needle for her industry and is a worthy recipient of this award.”

The winners were chosen from a field of 52 finalists.
