Wileys finishes major renovation, menu revision

Wileys is wrapping up a year-long remodeling project with an enhanced menu and a grand opening this weekend.

The restaurant and bar at 330 N. Main Ave. has undergone a top-to-bottom makeover, with a new floor plan including 25 televisions, a jumbo projector, new seating, flooring and lighting.

Outdoor seating also has been enlarged with the addition of a front patio, which is almost done.

“We absolutely love the way everything turned out,” said Todd Van Sickler, who has co-owned the business for 13 years.

“It has given the atmosphere a more sophisticated and clean look that parallels bigger cities’ upscale drinking and dining establishments.”

The goal was to create a more comfortable, welcoming setting, he added.

“Our crowd is amazing,” Van Sickler said. “We love the fact that they choose to spend their time and money at our establishment.  We try to treat them like family. Downtown keeps growing with continuously expanding residential and business opportunities. This remodel is meant to mirror the growing, vibrant, lively downtown and Sioux Falls community.”

The menu also has been expanded with a new line of entrees including Guinness prime rib, bourbon BBQ pork tenderloin, gouda mac and cheese, Lion’s Paw mussels and tater tot casserole.

“We have expanded our liquor selection by adding high-end bourbons, scotches, tequilas, and vodkas to our already extensive collection of liquor,” Van Sickler said. “Our new drink menu features specialty martinis, cosmos, a list of classic cocktails, and added many unique cocktails that our master mixologists created specifically for Wileys.”

In a subtle rebrand, it’s also dropped the “tavern” from the original name and is now just called Wileys.

Wileys will celebrate the new look and menu with a fundraiser for The Banquet Sept. 6-8. The event is called “Different Kicks” and runs all weekend with different specials. It aims to raise $5,000 for The Banquet.

Friday Sept. 6 will offer happy hour from 1 to 7 p.m. with $12 fishbowls and buy-one-get-one entrees plus live entertainment. Saturday Sept. 7. festivities start at 11 a.m. with college football, $3 bombers, buy-one-get-one entrees, giveaways and live entertainment. On Sunday, Sept. 8, Wileys also will open at 11 a.m. for NFL football and offer 75-cent wings plus giveaways and a massive Bloody Mary bar.
