Urban Thread opens this week at Lake Lorraine

Sept. 11, 2025

A shop for vintage, new and used clothing, furniture and home decor that also takes consignments is coming to Lake Lorraine.

Urban Thread’s opening day is Friday at 2564 S. Lorraine Place on the east side of the development. The business is the creation of mother-and-daughter team Jennifer and Maysa Kruse, who have been selling items as a side gig for some time but wanted a brick-and-mortar location.

Jennifer Kruse spent 25 years in the health care field, and daughter Maysa was interested in opening a clothing store. They decided to go into business and combine their love of clothing and home decor, according to a news release from Lake Lorraine.

“Some decor is new, and we also have used, upcycled and vintage too,” Kruse said.

Urban Thread had a booth at a recent Lake Lorraine Farmers Market to share some of the items they’ll include inside the store.

“We want to show people you can use old things and make it all look new,” Kruse said.

The team said they were drawn to Lake Lorraine because of traffic, surrounding shops and easy parking.

The Kruses work with several buyers in larger markets to gather inventory and also will accept local consignments.

Hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

For additional details, visit the Urban Thread website, or find it on Facebook and Instagram.
