Top 10 ways to make the most of this year’s Sanford International

Sept. 3, 2025

This event listing is sponsored by the Sanford International.

The Sanford International, coming up Sept. 8-14, isn’t just a golf tournament — it’s a celebration of community, athletic excellence and South Dakota pride. Whether you’re a die-hard golf fan or just looking for a fun weekend, here are 10 ways to make the most of your experience.

No. 1 – Arrive safely and easily

Skip the shuttle and utilize the convenience of Lyft. Use code DRIVESAFESD25 for $10 off your ride, courtesy of the South Dakota Department of Highway Safety. You’ll be dropped off right at Lot A, next to the main entrance. Prefer to drive? Enjoy free parking at the W.H. Lyon Fairgrounds, and ride the shuttle.

No. 2 – Bring the kids. They get in free!

Kids 15 and younger get in free with a ticketed adult. Explore the tournament together, or let them discover golf at the InSports Foundation Kids Zone with help from the First Tee – South Dakota for a perfect intro to the game.

No. 3 – Support the Children’s Ambassador at the opening ceremony

Join the crowd in cheering on Emmett Zorr, the Sanford Children’s Hospital Ambassador, as he takes the opening tee shot on Friday morning before championship play begins. The ceremony also features the national anthem and a flyover, making it a powerful and inspiring way to start the Sanford International.

No. 4 – Savor the signature eats and drinks

Come hungry and thirsty! Try the signature Ace Paloma cocktail made with Maestro Dobel tequila, Fernson’s Wedge Beer — a lime-twisted Kolsch — and the legendary rib-eye sandwich from South Dakota Ranchers via Beef Logic Inc. Cool off with the Sanford Swirl ice cream from Stensland Family Farms, and sample Korean-style bites from bibigo, including Spicy Sauced Dumplings, Korean Crunchy Chicken and Vegetable Spring Rolls — soon to be locally produced in Sioux Falls!

No. 5 – Do yoga on the 18th fairway

Start your Saturday with a peaceful free yoga session led by Braden Bradfield of Revolution Studios. Held on the scenic 18th fairway, it’s a serene way to kick off your day before the action begins.

No. 6 – Watch the Greats of the Game competition

Don’t miss the EMC Greats of the Game! Watch Minnesota Vikings legend Cris Carter team up with golf legend Sir Nick Faldo as they take on Super Bowl champion Rondé Barber and two-time Major winner Andy North in a fun, competitive showdown on Saturday afternoon.

No. 7 – Attend the after-party at the range

After the Greats of the Game compete, head to the driving range for live music by Jocko Deal — John Daly’s best buddy — autographs from Carter, Barber, Faldo and North, and free chislic prepared by South Dakota ranchers courtesy of Beef Logic Inc.

No. 8 – Get up close and personal

Even with a Grounds ticket, you will find plenty of premium viewing spots thanks to our partners:

  • The Ranch presented by Beef Logic Inc. on hole No. 17: Tailgate vibes with yard games, a great view of the 17th tee and a giant video board to watch football.
  • Maestro Dobel Tequila Deck: Serves up signature tequila drinks with views of the 17th green, first green, and No. 2 and No. 18 tees.
  • Tinners on Twelve: A fan favorite spot with views of three holes and top-tier hospitality provided by Tinners Public House staff.
  • AARP Viewing Deck: Behind the difficult No. 9 green and directly under a shade tree.
  • bibigo Autograph Alley: Grab your favorite player’s signature behind the 18th green.
  • Plus, free bleacher seating at holes No. 16 and No. 18 courtesy of Dave & Buster’s and Lewis Drug.
  • Ernst Capital Driving Range and POET Putting Green: Watch the pros practice and appreciate their skill and precision, and pick up some tips!

No. 9 – Enter for a chance to win

Take the safe-driving survey for a chance to win a team in the 2026 Pro-Am on behalf of the South Dakota Office of Highway Safety. Pick up a pairings sheet, scan the QR code, and enter for a chance to win a $500 private party or a free beverage to the tournament’s official 19th hole, the new Jack Rose Social Club in The Steel District. Visit the ELO CPAs & Advisors’ Bagged Chair Zone at hole No. 9 to win a golf bag autographed by every player in the field. And if you spot one of the bagged chairs at the end of the day, it’s yours to take home!

No. 10 Soak in the atmosphere

Whether you’re there for the championship-level golf, the food, the music or the memories, take time to enjoy the energy, the people and championship-caliber beauty of Minnehaha Country Club. The Sanford International is more than a pro golf tournament. It’s a celebration of everything that makes this community special.
