May 29, 2024
Southeast Technical College has named its next president.
Cory Clasemann was chosen following a national search. He most recently spent nine years as vice president for student success at Ivy Tech Community College in Indianapolis.
“I am incredibly honored and humbled to be selected to serve as the next president of Southeast Technical College. This is an exciting time for STC, and it will be a privilege to work collaboratively with the many talented faculty, staff and other stakeholders as we support students in accomplishing their educational and professional goals,” Clasemann said in a statement.
His 25-year career in higher education includes a history of a “strong commitment to advancing workforce preparedness, implementing academic programs and review processes, advocating for underrepresented and first-generation college students, and fostering partnerships with industry and local organizations and churches to support students pursuing their professional and educational goals,” Southeast Tech said in a statement.
“He values diversity and inclusion, and has worked tirelessly to remove barriers to increase student access and learning opportunities.”
Clasemann earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication from Creighton University, a master’s degree in organizational management from the University of Phoenix and his doctorate in high education administration from Indiana University.
As an Aspen Rising Presidential Fellowship cohort member, Clasemann also has pursued training and professional development to prepare him to lead a college like Southeast Tech, the school said.
“We are excited to welcome Dr. Clasemann to Southeast Technical College and to the Sioux Falls community,” board president Carly Reiter said. “We are confident that his 25 years of experience in higher education, his excitement to grow programs and his passion for building relationships will help STC remain a strong workplace and an exceptional place of learning for the region’s future workforce. His focus on access and creative partnerships will positively impact students, industry and workforce in our community.”
Clasemann succeeds Robert Griggs, who was hired as president in 2016 and resigned in March.
Clasemann begins his new role in mid-July.
