Sioux Falls Macy’s escapes closure round
Macy’s is closing 11 stores, but The Empire Mall location isn’t one of them.
It’s part of a 100-store reduction announced in mid-2016.
Macy’s also plans to close 19 more underperforming stores as leases expire, the company said.
The latest round leaves Macy’s with fewer than 600 stores, down from almost 800 in 2014.
The newest closures include four stores in California, two in Florida and one in Cincinnati.
On a more positive note, Macy’s reported holiday sales were strong enough to raise its full-year 2017 earnings outlook.
