Sanford confirms additional high-level resignations

Nov. 5, 2021

Two more members of Sanford Health’s leadership team have left the organization.

Chief marketing officer Kimber Severson and chief philanthropy officer Bobbie Tibbetts resigned this week, following the departure of their former supervisor, executive vice president Micah Aberson.

“Kimber Severson and Bobbie Tibbetts both elevated their respective departments during their time at Sanford Health,” Nathan Peterson, executive vice president and chief strategy and development officer, said in a statement.

“Kimber helped transform our integrated marketing initiatives, uplifting Sanford’s overall brand and positively impacting our reputation both locally and nationally. Bobbie led the Sanford Foundation team in building a strong base of more than 16,000 donors whose passions align with the incredible mission of Sanford Health. Her and her team’s ability to foster relationships has had a significant impact on Sanford’s philanthropic efforts.”

Peterson noted that the one-year anniversary of Bill Gassen’s appointment as president and CEO of Sanford is approaching and that “with any leadership change at that level, as the organization resets its priorities, it is not uncommon to see executives transition to new opportunities,” he said. “We wish them the best as they look toward the next chapter of their careers.”

Sanford has not listed either job opening, and Severson and Tibbetts have not announced their next steps.

“This was an extremely difficult personal decision, but I knew it was the right time to move on from Sanford Health,” Severson, who joined the organization nearly four years ago, said in a statement.

“It’s been an absolute honor to lead such a talented team of storytellers, to lift up the voices of caregivers and their lifesaving mission, and to work alongside so many colleagues I admire. I’m grateful for the opportunity and look forward to what’s next.”

Tibbetts had been with Sanford nine years.

“It was a privilege to serve as the chief philanthropy officer at Sanford Health. I’m grateful for the opportunity to have worked with a dedicated team who connected daily with the philanthropic investors across the entire Sanford Health footprint,” she said in a statement.

“I’m proud to have been a part of some profound and historic gifts, which will impact health care in our region for generations to come. After nine years with the organization, I fondly look back on memories made and meaningful relationships built. I’ve decided to pursue my next career chapter and am enthusiastic for the future.”
