Restaurant Roundup: Throwback buffet pricing, fall drinks

Sept. 20, 2018

Throwback pricing is coming Friday and Saturday at the Pizza Ranches in Brandon and on East 10th Street to celebrate their anniversaries. The Brandon restaurant is marking 30 years, and it’s 10 years for 10th Street. The buffet price will be $9 from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

The Source Roasterie+Taproom is launching its fall drink menu Monday. Here’s a sneak peek at one of the creations: a matcha latte with honey, bee pollen, cayenne and chia seeds.

Himalayan Indian Cuisine opened in late May on Arrowhead Parkway, and the restaurant has been dealing all summer with the massive road construction project outside its doors. To help customers, the restaurant has joined Food Dudes Delivery. Customers can order through Food Dudes’ website. Himalayan also is offering a 10 percent discount on carryout orders, which includes the lunch buffet.

Inca Salsa has introduced its 10th flavor. Salsa Verde, a green salsa, is made with tomatillos. It’s available in 16-ounce jars at Inca Mexican Restaurant at 41st and Holly, and eventually will be in all of the Hy-Vees, said Julio Espino. Now, it’s in the grocery stores near The Empire Mall, on Minnesota Avenue, and at 26th and Marion, 57th and Cliff. “It’s a big part of our tradition of cooking, but around here it’s new” to a lot of people, Espino said. “The Midwest is becoming more educated to new dishes.”

The end of the ice cream season is arriving for the first B&G Milkway in the area. The final day for the West 12th Street site is Sunday. Don’t worry — Pumpkin Avalanches and other treats will be available for a few more weeks at other locations.

TC’s Referee Sports Bar & Grill introduced autumn specials a few weeks ago, and the waffles featured in the Belgian burger are making an appearance now at dessert. Chef Tom Mose has crafted a bacon waffle sundae. That’s a toasted Belgian waffle topped with bacon, smoked maple bourbon pecan ice cream and caramel drizzle.
