Restaurant Roundup: Pizza pop-up, new wraps, ice cream bar

Fernson Brewing Co. is having a Totally Rad Pizza pop-up Friday at the north-side brewery. Pizza will be served from 5:30 to 7 p.m., and the taproom will be open from 3 to 9 p.m. The address is 1400 E. Robur Drive.

R Wine Bar & Kitchen has added wraps to its lunch menu of salads, paninis and pasta. Lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Sioux Valley Grille in Canton has added an ice cream bar. The restaurant serves hand-scooped ice cream in cups and cones, sundaes, shakes, malts and 1919 Classic American Draft Root Beer floats. It also offers a variety of baked goods.

Celebrity chef Guy Fieri has partnered with Circle K to sell exclusive Flavortown breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacking options. Among the 11 offerings are the Mac N’ Cheese Burger, Sweet Heat Fried Chicken & Waffle Sandwich, Denver Omelet on a Cheddar Bun Sandwich and the Candy Chaos Cookie with candy pieces, chocolate chips, potato chips, peanut butter chips, pecans and pretzels. “This collaboration is about redefining what people can expect from convenience store food, demonstrating our commitment to innovation and listening directly to our customers’ cravings for high-quality, flavorful options on the go,” a Circle K executive said in a news release.

Humble Hill Winery north of Garretson is looking for helpers to pick grapes Friday and Saturday. Reach out if you’d like to help, and they’ll provide lunch.

WoodGrain Brewing Co. is celebrating its 10th anniversary Saturday at the downtown location with barrel releases of Cocobolo and 10-Year Plan. Doors open at noon. Brady Wrede will perform from 3 to 6 p.m., and Tomahawk County will play from 7 to 10 p.m. WoodGrain already has tapped its reboot of Smash Cascade, the first beer it made. The original crew gathered to brew it one more time.

The Rush is having its annual end-of-summer fundraiser Saturday for its nonprofit, Rush 4 the Causes. The bar and grill is serving an all-your-can-eat barbecue meal for a freewill donation from 3 p.m. until the food is gone. Offerings include ribs, pulled pork sandwiches and beans. A dart tournament starts at 7 p.m.

MacKenzie River Pizza, Grill & Pub has a new pizza for the season: Oktoberfest. It’s layered with bratwurst, sauerkraut, beer-braised onions and mozzarella, finished with a drizzle of brewpub mustard. It’s available through Oct. 29.

The food truck Southern Perfection BBQ has added a few items to the menu. The Big Smokey features brisket, pulled pork, jalapeno cheddar smoked sausage, pickles and slaw with a side of smokey peach barbecue sauce. Loaded fries are topped with your choice of brisket, pulled pork or jalapeno smoked sausage. A Southern drink staple, sweet tea, is available now in regular, lemon and peach flavors. Atomic Wings has a new weekday lunch special. For $10, get a combo meal with three tenders or a chicken sandwich. Lunch hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

New cupcake flavors for fall at Sugar Palace by Emily in Harrisburg are brown sugar cream cheese pumpkin, caramel apple, Midnight Raspberry and Classic Duo with vanilla cake and chocolate buttercream.

Carne asada is back on the menu at Chipotle for a limited time. The steak is marinated, then seasoned on the grill with a spice blend including cumin, coriander, garlic and oregano. When the meat sliced for serving, it’s finished with fresh-squeezed lime and fresh cilantro. The restaurant chain noted that, according to Google search history, carne asada was Chipotle’s most-searched menu item and the second-most searched limited-time offering among all national restaurant brands. To celebrate the return, Chipotle is offering free delivery with a carne asada purchase from Monday through Sept. 30 at participating locations.

New menu items for fall have arrived at Cracker Barrel. Choices include Sausage & Egg Hashbrown Casserole, Butter Pecan French Toast Bake, Butter Pecan Sticky Buns, Cinnamon Roll Skillet, Herb-Roasted Chicken and the burger BBQ Bacon Smokestack. Returning breakfast favorites are Uncle Herschel’s Favorite and the lighter platter Good Morning Breakfast, along with Big Easy Steak & Shrimp for lunch or dinner. On the weekend, the kitchen serves two Southern fried chicken specials: Nashville Hot or Honey Butter.

The Human Bean’s new drinks for fall will be available through Nov. 4.

7 Brew Coffee celebrates Jackpot Day on the seventh day of the month from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. with a special that changes every time. Sunday, customers who buy two medium or large drinks will get a free football or volleyball while supplies last.

- Now that the Okoboji season is over, the food truck Geo’s Hamburger Shoppe has reopened in the parking lot of 8th & Railroad Center. Hours vary, so check Facebook for updates. Owner George Hendrickson expects to be open this week on Friday and Saturday for lunch and dinner.
- The Good Earth Farm has moved into its fall schedule for pizza parties and events. Pizza is served from 3 to 8 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
