Restaurant Roundup: New ice cream pies, pop-up dinners

Stensland Family Farms has a new offering: ice cream pies. They’re available for $14 at the central location at 3101 W. 41st St. Flavors include Turtle Cheesecake, Peppermint Brownie Cheesecake, Snickers Cheesecake and Peppermint Oreo Chocolate.

Five chefs are helping Hungry Hearts raise money to help food-insecure children in the community. The dinner will begin at 6 p.m. Dec. 29 at Chef Jeni & Co. In addition to Jeni Bergan, the chefs are Jesse Severson of The Barrel House, Jason Bergan of Tony’s Catering, Josh Jackson of Morrie’s Steakhouse and David Ohayon of Papa’s Private Dinners. Forty tickets are available for $200 per person with all of the money going to Hungry Hearts. Call 605-271-7553 for reservations.

Chef Omar Thornton, the former owner of ‘O’ So Good in Garretson that was featured on “Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives,” is collaborating with the 918 Grill at Rock River Golf & Country Club in Rock Rapids, Iowa, on his second pop-up dinner of the season. The date is Dec. 30. Tickets, which are available now for a limited number of seats, are $50 for the four-course meal that comes with two signature drinks. Call 712-472-3168 for reservations. Oh My Cupcakes has created a Holiday Sweets Shop with several new treats. Son-of-a-Nutcracker! is roasted and candied almonds and pecans. Merry Crisp-mas are candy-coated crispie squares. Oh Fudge! is white chocolate Oreo fudge and chocolate fudge. White Christmas is white chocolate peppermint bark. You’ll also find tubs of Bliss Buttercream for decorating your own cookies.

Crawford’s Bar & Grill has new additions to its menu. Pork Wellington has earned a permanent spot on the menu, general manager Dan Meyers said. Seasonal favorite meatloaf, which is layered with boursin mashed potatoes, has returned. Chicken Florentine is a new grilled pizza, and the Sweet Pea Salmon is an elevated version of a recipe passed down to a chef from his grandmother. Both of the poultry dishes are new: Winter Chicken with a lemon rosemary caramel sauce and Cranberry Duck. For salads, there’s a new spiced pecan version. Steak lovers will find new seasoned crusts and enhancements like shrimp scampi and grilled garlic mushrooms. New sides include au gratin potatoes and mac-and-cheese.

Tinner’s Public House is hosting a blood drive Friday for the Heroes Behind the Badge campaign for the Community Blood Bank. Donate a pint and get a free burger, a cupcake from Oh My Cupcakes, a T-shirt and two Skyforce tickets. Blood drive hours are 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.; sign up for an open slot in advance.

Purple pancakes are the star of IHOP’s themed menu to celebrate the release of the movie “Wonka.” The menu includes Wonka’s Perfectly Purple Pancakes, Hoverchoc Pancake Tacos, Daydream Berry Biscuit and Fantastical Wonka Burger. Kids can choose from the Jr. Magical Breakfast Medley or Willy’s Jr. French Toast Dippers. For a limited time, kids eat for free from 4 to 10 p.m. every day with the purchase of an adult entree.

The new Chick N Max at Lake Lorraine has a happy hour menu that’s available from 2 to 5 p.m. daily.

Popeyes has five new flavors for its wings: Roasted Garlic Parmesan, Signature Hot, Sweet ‘N Spicy, Ghost Pepper and Honey BBQ.

Blarney Stone Pub now offers gluten-free buns for select burgers and sandwiches.

Fans of ‘Brosia Bowl can get bottled sauces to go. Choices include ranch dressing, sriracha aioli and Thai peanut sauce. Get an 8-ounce bottle for $5.

Roam Kitchen + Bar is donating a portion of the profit from the Triple Chocolate Brownie through Dec. 31 to Adult & Teen Challenge, a faith-based addiction recovery organization.

Sweet Amber Lynn’s is donating 10 percent of all sales through Christmas to Healing Hope Ministries, which helps families after the loss of a child.

Donate a toy or baby item and get a BOGO offer on tap beer and well drinks at Lucky’s downtown. The bar is collecting new, unwrapped gifts through Saturday for Children’s Home Society and The Teddy Bear Den. Here’s the wish list: board games, toys, coloring books, arts and crafts supplies, outdoor toys, puzzles, school supplies, baby toys, baby supplies, baby and children’s clothing and blankets.

  • Ninja Ramen & Thai, 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
  • Oppa Chicken, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Ramen Fuji, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Red Lobster, 3 to 10 p.m.
