Restaurant Roundup: New featured menus, burger battle entry on flatbread

At 22Ten Kitchen Cocktails, the theme of the new featured menu is backyard barbecue. Featured drinks include the Angus Collins, Smokey Margarita, Blackberry Bramble, Mount Fishtail Marlborough sauvignon blanc and the nonalcoholic 94 Mule. Catch it for the next four to six weeks.

Remedy Brewing Co. has several new menu items from The Saucy Boyz in the kitchen. They took the Downtown Burger Battle entry and turned it into a flatbread. The Remedio has au jus cream cheese, Monument Farms wagyu beef, giardiniera and cheddar with a roasted garlic aioli. There’s also a black bean burger, a Reuben and jalapeno grilled cheese.

The fiesta-themed spring menu is out through May at the Phillips Avenue Diner.

Charlie’s Pizza has added chicken to the menu. The chicken strip meal has three pieces and one slice of cheesebread. Boneless wings come in hot or barbecue. Get a full order of 12 or a half-order.

There’s still two weeks left to try the latest tasting menus at Harvester Kitchen by Bryan. The carnivore version has a steakhouse theme this month, and the plant-based option is called Greenhouse with hydroponic lettuce, asparagus, stuffed blossoms, cauliflower and morel mushrooms.

Ten food trucks are running a promotion to draw followers on their Facebook pages. Like their pages and share a video they posted this week for a chance to win the Golden Food Truck Ticket. The prize is $250 worth of food with each food truck offering a $25 voucher. The winner will be picked May 4. Participating trucks include Backyard BBQ, Berkes BBQ, Black Iron Waffles, Cheezy Noodlez Gourmet Mac & Cheeze, FadeAways, Fat Kid Fillys, Pa & Sons, Rudy M. Navarrete’s Tex-Mexican Catering, Tacos de Gringo and Windy City Bites.

Wileys has new specials on appetizers and meals. During happy hour from 3 to 7 p.m. weekdays, get half-orders of appetizers for $5. Options include chicken or beef nachos, chips and queso, pretzel sticks, cheese curds and fried pickles. On Mondays, get a 12-ounce ribeye with a baked potato and side salad for $20 or a 16-ounce version for $25. On Tuesdays, buy a burger and get the second one for half-price. On Wednesdays, wings are 75 cents.

Crawford’s Bar & Grill has added another happy hour flight. From 4 to 6 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, get four mini Old-Fashioned drinks for $28. The varieties are rye, Tennessee whiskey, Bubmu Rum and Oaxacan with a small dish of candied pecans. The happy hour margarita flights are still available on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

McDonald’s has a new sauce for dipping or adding to any sandwich. It’s the Big Mac special sauce, and it’s available only through the mobile app.

Ruby Tuesday’s spring menu features three new smashed burgers: Loaded Guac, Mushroom Swiss and American. New cheesesteaks options are the Fiesta with grilled bell peppers, cheddar queso, pico de gallo and crumbled tortilla chips; hickory bourbon with sliced chicken, bacon, melted cheddar, crispy onions and jalapenos; and the five cheese with American, mozzarella, cheddar, asiago and cheddar queso.

If you’re a fan of eggs Benedict, IHOP has four new varieties. Keep it classic with black forest ham, poached eggs and hollandaise on a toasted English muffin, or try something new with pesto veggie, spicy poblano or bourbon bacon jam.

Kingbird Coffee in Brandon is celebrating National Tea Day on Friday with tea parties. The first, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., is open to all ages. Toddler Tea Time for those age 2 to 5 will be from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $10. Call 605-582-3244 to sign up.

Look’s Marketplace and Look’s Beer Co. are celebrating Maibock Day with the annual blessing of the beer at noon Saturday. Pours of Maibock are $5, and there’s a special bockwurst just for the occasion.

Remedy Brewing Co. is celebrating Earth Day once again with Friends of the Big Sioux River, crafting the Big Sioux Brew, made with purified river water. The German pilsner will be available on tap Saturday after the river cleanup from 10 a.m. to noon. For the first time, it’s also available in cans at the downtown brewery and grocery stores in the area. A portion of proceeds will go to the organization to supports its mission of restoring and protecting the river’s watershed.

On Saturday, the traveling food truck On the Hook Fish & Chips will be in Harrisburg. Find it from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the Ace Hardware parking lot. Follow the detour signs to get there.

Changes in hours, service

  • Falls Overlook Café has extended its spring hours to include lunch from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday and Tuesday. It’s also open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
  • Facing a staffing shortage, Everest Indian Cuisine is closed now on Tuesdays. Hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Monday.
  • Intoxibakes has started summer hours, staying open an hour later each day. The bakery in the Jones421 Building opens at 8 .m. Tuesday through Saturday. It closes at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday, 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 p.m. Friday.
  • The Big Dill bar and video lottery casino in Tea has expanded its hours. It’s open from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. daily.
