POET has hired Carla Jacobs English as director of public relations. English will represent POET as the company spokesperson and lead national, regional and local public relations and media engagement strategies. Previously, English worked for five years in public affairs for Uber Technologies, most recently holding the position of senior manager of policy and communications, leading public affairs for Uber’s Midwest region. Before that, English worked in federal government relations for lobbying firm Lewis-Burke Associates, where she focused on science, research and education issues.

Gage Brothers has promoted Joe Bunkers to vice president of operations.  Bunkers joined the concrete products company as a drafter in 1999. Over the years, he has held leadership positions in the quality control and preconstruction departments. For the past six years, he served as vice president of preconstruction. In his new role, Bunkers will oversee the drafting, engineering, project management, sales and production departments.

Sioux Falls Stampede

Jim Olander, president of the Sioux Falls Stampede, was named executive of the year by the United States Hockey League. He was chosen by a vote of senior management of the 16 member clubs. Olander has worked with the Stampede for 16 seasons, starting as the broadcast and communications manager. He was promoted to executive vice president in 2013 and president ahead of the 2018-19 season.
