Dr. Eric Kurtz has been named executive director of the University of South Dakota Sanford School of Medicine’s Center for Disabilities. Kurtz most recently served as the interim director of the Helmsley Charitable Trust’s Rural Healthcare Program. He has served in several leadership roles at the Center for Disabilities, including director of the South Dakota Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities Program, director of clinical operations and community services, and director of the Autism Spectrum Disorders Program. In addition, he is an associate professor of pediatrics at USD.

Paul Farmer of KELO-TV received the Silver Medal Award. Farmer began his broadcasting career in 1983 as an announcer at KSOO radio. He joined KELO-TV in 1985 as a copywriter and in 1999 was promoted to director of marketing and creative services.

Bill Goehring, a freelance photographer and videographer, received the Creative Legacy Award. His career also has included time with the South Dakota Governor’s Office, Department of Tourism and Media One Advertising. He has been doing freelance work for the past 15 years.

Larry Lamb, senior partner of MacDoctors, received the Heart of SDAF Award.
