PAve unveils brunch, Bloody Mary menu

Red velvet pancakes, peanut butter and jelly French toast and a cinnamon roll trio are some highlights of a new brunch menu that starts Saturday at PAve.

The brunch started as a way to give the chef and kitchen staff a way to express their talent and creativity, general manager John Geiken said.

“It just made sense to us to give it a try,” he said. “We ran the idea by customers, and the response was overwhelmingly positive.”

Other features include a breakfast burrito, breakfast sandwich, eggs Benedict and the PAve breakfast, which includes eggs, bacon, hash browns and Texas toast.

“We feel there is a little something for everyone on this menu,” Geiken said. “It puts a little spin on some modern brunch staples, as well as trying to perfect some classics.”

There’s a good variety of small plates to encourage sampling, “but in classic PAve style, we also have some items that will take your endorphins to that happy place and leave you looking for a couch,” he added.

While brunch is limited to Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., a new build-your-own Bloody Mary menu will continue until 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

“We danced around the item of doing (brunch) on Saturdays and Sundays, but ultimately we decided with downtown Sioux Falls having such a great turnout on Saturdays, we felt this was our best chance to let customers enjoy it,” Geiken said. “If things go well with the brunch on Saturdays, we definitely would consider adding it to our Sunday specials.”

Business in general is going well, he said, as a loyal customer base has been established and customers are reacting positively to the lunch menu and revamped drink specials.

Those are:

  • Monday: $1 off all tap beers, with 24 varieties.
  • Tuesday: $1 canned and bottled beer, plus open mic night from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
  • Wednesday: Half-price drinks all day.
  • Thursday: $3 You Call Its starting at 9 p.m.
  • Friday: Live trivia at 5 p.m. and Long Island specials with 10 flavors starting at 9 p.m.
  • Saturday: $3 bombers starting at 9 p.m.
